They do cost a fair bit more than the SFT-42R, at least at Kaidomain. I wonder if the additional cost is worth it. I’ve ordered a few of both and will be mounting them in identical hosts with identical drivers, so I guess I will find out. I won’t be driving them very hard though, will be staying under 6 amps.

Hopefully you’ll share your findings.
It’ll take a while before I get them, and then even longer before I have the drivers and lights assembled. By that time there will hopefully be some comparisons between the two around. With that said, I can at least share my opinion and some beam shots when I finally get these things built.

That’s crazy! How many lumens do you get out of a SFT42R with the same setup?
I expected the XM-MR to underperform due to high Vf.
I don’t have a SFT42R yet.
I went with the XM-MR for this build because it had a higher vF and i was less worried it would burn up on Turbo.

Not yet. I recently made some changes to the driver design so I have not received the new PCBs yet. If I use some older driver I’ll post, but I probably won’t as it’s not worth the hassle.
