I wanted to test my old Eneloop batteries. So I made the selection for the Refresh function using the single button on the charger. It was easy to do and the 8 slots were very convenient for me to load four each of my AAA and AA NiMh batteries. This charger also charges 1.5V LiIon batteries, although I did not use those for this test
The charger arrived with a USB A to C cable, which I plugged into a USB A power block that I already had.
Loaded one AAA Eneloop Pro, three AAA Eneloop white, three AA Eneloop white, and one Tenergy Eneloop.
After some time the AAA Eneloop Pro gave an error message. I removed it from the charger. It read 1.44V on my DMM. The battery still works, but it gives very low output, limited to 14 lumens max on High mode in my AAA Thrunite Ti3. The same light with a new AAA 1.5V LiIon gives 92 lumens on high.
I knew that this AAA Eneloop Pro was old and tired. Even before attempting to Refresh it, the output was limited to 14 lumens max. The charger was unable to restore any higher output. I reserve this battery for occasional use at low outputs indoors.
The remaining batteries continued to run in Refresh mode on the Xtar L8 Pro for several hours.. during this time the charger discharged and recharged them multiple times.
When the first AAA Eneloop white indicated Done, I took it out and tested its output in my Ti3. It reached 67 lumens… obviously old, but still useful indoors.
