So I got the ZY-T13 and played with it stock for awhile. Then the 10ohm trim pot from Fasttec arrived and I soldered that in. I didn’t adjust the pot and was still getting 1.05A at the tailcap. The next time I went to use it output on high was like moonlight low.
Does anybody have any trouble shooting ideas for this thing? I don’t really want to lose the side switch.
been also wanting to know more about this driver/switch too. What was the trimpot for ? just adjusting the output?
Yep. Just for adjusting the output. Never even got a chance to crank it up.
bump
You check for shorts or loose wires yet? I feel like a wire for the pot may have shorted or popped off somehow.
Did you remove the sense resistor entirely?
Could you make a picture - maybe someone notice something wrong on the driver,
Is it possible to add some of the 7135 chips to this driver to boost output?
I cant explain the tailcap number, but if you did not adjust the pot, it might have been adjusted so that it would basically be like putting a wire over the resistor. I can not tell for sure, but if that was the case, some part could have gotten way more current than it should get.
Im just speculating though.
Thanks for the replies guys. I’ll post some pics hopefully tomorrow. The pot was installed without problem and was turned to max resistance so it didn’t affect the circuit. I measured and current output was the same after the pot as it was before ( while it was still working). I believe what happened is one of the led wires shorted out on the housing. The wires were too short for me get clearance to solder the pot in so I cut the wires to avoid de-soldering wires on the star. Some of those stars can be a pain to solder. Anyway, when I soldered the wires back together I couldn’t find my heat shrink tubing so I just electrical taped the solder joint. After it stopped working correctly, I pulled it apart and found the tape was pushed down the wire uncovering the solder joint. That probably happened when I pulled the wires thru the pill cutouts. Curiously, all the modes still work but they are so dim it’s like the lowest moon mode you’ve ever seen. LOL I put a volt meter across the driver outputs and forget the exact reading but it looked too low. I’d just replace the driver but that side switch is so handy. If I can’t get this driver fixed, other than one of the Luxdrivers, will any other drivers take an input from the side switch?
No, I just soldered over the top of it
This light takes two 18650’s so I think the voltage is too high for 7135’s.
K thanks. How can you boost output of this light and keep the side switch?
Look in the ZY t13 threads.
You can simply make a resistor mod…lower the current sensing resistor with an additional parallel resistor and voila…
It’s a nice driver.
