I figure if a short flat top AND long protected cells both work, anything else falls in between

Unprotected cell maybe too short. Yes, it will turn off momentarily if you give it a good tap on the tailcap. I didn't even notice it until I saw George's feedback.

Are the cells in series or parallel?

In series.

  • Working voltage: 11.2 - 16.8V ( over discharge protection )

Is it safe to use 4.35V cells?

4x4.35 = 17.4V.

I am just now getting a chance to see the fins update on this. I am on the list, and still interested.

Remember UTorch. The more/deeper the fins, the better. People (We:) will want to run this awhile on turbo 1 ~3300Lm you know, and would also like as much time as possible on Turbo 2. Fins will add time. I would like to see them as large as the bezel.

We don’t want a 1200lm flashlight. :sunglasses:

We don’t need a cooking appliance. :person_facepalming:

Bring those fins out some. This is not an Art project. :wink:

I would like a tripod mount, and I would be interested in an OP reflector. Flood it Baby! Do you think it will be offered in both reflector types, or tested in both?

Here is a picture of one of my very favorite flashlights ever (MK35). This thing is spectacular!

add me for 1 :slight_smile:

Add me, thanks.

GA’s already have raised tops as shown in your picture above on the right. They’re not flat like some other cells. They need a button to work in the UT03? The raised top ones won’t work?

Freeme, I’m just trying to think with you. The guys of the Q8 project had the actual light to know what batteries fit, and as a result of that decided to go with the button top 30Q for max performance: they have good control over the actual product.
Is this also the case with the UT03? GearBest gets feedback, but I can imagine the manufacturer has the freedom to change little details without GearBest (or you) knowing them. I can imagine a theoretical possibility that the actual production UT03 is not going to like button top GAs, but prefer flattop GAs; maybe button top GAs will be uncomfortably tight. It would be horrible if button top GAs are shipped (and financial aspects taken care of) before finding out they don’t fit well… Just a thought. :laughing:
