Instead of normal knurling a pineapple knurling would look good on the tube.
Like MecArmy PT60

That pattern would look really nice on this light, although not sure how it would work with the flat sections on the battery tube?

If it could be made to look good I would totally be down for this.

Yeah, this should not be hard or expensive to source, I see switches like this with LED’s in all sorts of ultra budget lights, even a lot of my cheap SRK’s had them, only missing the LED’s. I can’t see it adding more then .10-.20 cents to the cost of the light.

Well worth the cost IMHO.

I also noticed that your centering ring was in much better condition then mine, so looks like my guess of mine just being normal prototype abuse that caused it to kill the LED is plausible.

Del, how is your reflector quality? Do you have any pictures of the reflector? If you hold it a few inches away from the table and turn it on, do you see rings?

118? Not quite the target 120 mm then. Interesting.... Here's an old picture of the SD10:

Lumintop SD26:

Ask and ye shall receive. Here are some beamshots from last night. Pictures are not perfect as it was in semi-auto but gives a reasonable demonstration of what was seen. The GT blows everything else out of the water by a large margin!

Here is the GT aimed about 300-350ft away (tried to get some longer range shots but it was way too humid and the beam washed out the image before you could see the reflection, looked cool though, looked like a light saber!):

Convoy L2 with xhp35 HI

Cometa:

The GT beam in nearly fog like humidity:

Another GT beamshot from a distance:

Comparison with several other throwers, I think the order goes like this:

XHP35 HI L2 - XP-L HI L2 - BLF GT - Small 2s zoomie - XHP35 HI 1405 - Cometa

Cool beam shots!

Some of my lights reflect the emitter like a mirror (o-lights, L2, D80, ), the GT not so much.

This is what shows with the light ~2” away from the wall:

Edit: From my first photos, if it helps:

+1!
The beamshots are awesome! Can’t wait!

Flashlight porn indeed.

This light looks awesome! It is incredible we can buy it only for 111 dollars. It seems pretty much perfect to me. Some minor bugs to be fixed, but I would buy it even now and never regret it. The team and Lumintop have done a good job!

I think xCentrino and I were missed on the list. I requested a second GT on post 4638 and xC posted right after me (tho I’m not sure what is going on with the time stamps).

I’m actually really posting to say I’m interested in a 3rd one… for sure this time =P

Texas Ace, those are some awesome shots!

Could you please add me to the list for one?

great shots !
whats the lux of that Convoy L2 with xhp35 HI?

Lovely shots TA. Thanks.

Please put me down on the interest/request list.

I’ve been passively checking this thread off and on for several months, but seeing the posts of the prototype lights has me damn excited.

Reading over the thread, I think I understand how the ordering process works…

1. Once the GT is ready for production(date still unknown), the first 555 people on the list(already spoken for) will receive a PM giving them details on ordering the light for $111. They will have a 5 day window to place their order before PMs are sent out to people further down the list, until 555 orders have been placed through Lumintop.

2. After the first run of 555 orders are placed, PMs will be sent out to the remaining people on the interest list(including me, I hope), which will give them details on ordering the GT for $150. As of now, there is no limit on the number of orders for this run.

3. After the second run of orders has ended, the GT will then be available for purchase at a retail price of $200-$250.

I am glad the beamshots turned out ok, they were kind of spur of the moment and I was not sure what they would look like. The high humidity made for some interesting pictures indeed.

I forgot exactly what it was but it was around 750-800m of throw IIRC. It was my favorite thrower before the GT. The D01 was nice but the xhp35 is nicer then the xp-l.

Yep, same thing I saw with mine. Not sure why it has those rings, anyone got any ideas? It apparently still throws good with them but it would be nice to at least know why they are there.

My best guess is machining marks covered by the reflective plating…

Look at DEL’s pics of the reflector, if you magnify it you will see the circular marks, a good polish of the bare aluminum before electroplating should take care of it.

↑↑ I’m obviously not a pro at this but from the looks of those reflector shots, it almost seems as though it is reflecting itself like that hall-of-mirrors effect. The reflector angle at the base (where the led is) is so steep, it can reflect the other side…?

I’m trying here.

Edit: Scratch that… Here is a question for everyone who owns dedicated throwers like the TN42. If you tailstand your light on the floor and look directly down into it (with the light off of course), and move your head around, is there a point where the entire reflector is filled with the yellow of the led?

For the life of me, I can’t find that spot in my TN42vn with an dedomed xpg2 while it’s not so difficult to do with my T30 and T21. FYI, my TN42vn also has similar rings at close range (a few feet).

Could that have anything to do with it?
