Is this from the perspective of the reader of the writer?

If reading I like option A or D. As a writer I’m kinda lazy and like option B.

Usually after I have ogled someone’s build I’ll go back to read comments. Some can be poignant and enlightening.

I think the OP should be exactly as he/she wants. I certainly do, and will disregard any vote results in this thread Silly

You are absolutely right but I don’t think Moose was angling for ‘what people should be doing’ more of a ‘what do people like’.

Ha on phone the updates on several pages are easiest
But in the end, any build topic is great and the creators ought to do what is preferred for them, as long as they post them Big Smile

Yeah, I know. But in the end, if the thread is interesting enough it won’t matter anyway.

As a writer I plan to do sort of a hybrid, I will probably put most of the updated text in the OP, then I will add my pictures in the reserved posts directly after the OP. Some text updates will be mixed in the thread also, but I plan to keep all relevant info in the first couple posts.

I voted for A because I think that’s the most easy-to-follow way to do build threads, or any thread updates. Choice D is also a good one. These two are how my threads are done when updates are added.

I’ll have to disagree with Mike C. Even though you do have a personal right to conduct your thread how you see fit (within certain boundaries of reason and law), I think it would be pointless to write anything on a public forum with total disregard for the reader. And readers tend to read things that are easy to follow. Or at least I do. My way may not be the best way for the reader either, but I think it is, and that’s why I do it that way. I’m not writing entirely to please myself. I want people to read what I write. IMHO, part of what makes a thread “interesting enough” is how it is conducted. If it’s poorly written, or the format is hard to follow, I won’t get far enough into it to find out if it is “interesting enough” to want to read more. I doubt many others would either.

Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. Do not count on them. Leave them alone.

I guess it depends how big the thread gets.
More than a few pages, links in the OP would be nice. As the threads get older the newer members searching a certain light model may never get to page 36 to see the update, without following a link.

But as a current thread the email updates take you to the New posts, also same as seen on the front page of BLF with the number of new posts and if you click the new posts you may never know the OP was updated.

I voted #4 Updates mixed into the thread with links in the op to the particular update

Thanks for the feedback. The idea of the poll was what makes it easier for you guys to read a thread and how would you like that done. With the OL comp happening there will be a few build threads going up around the place.

It’s a tough call, & not easy to always get right, especially on a long-winded build thread such as the OL Comp threads.

I know my last one was all over the place, & hope to get it right this time…

I like the updates all over the place (your last year’s build story was great, FmC!) with references to build posts in the OP, it is more like a story that way and I like to read what others post in between.
