Pre production sample [Review] Astrolux MF-01 4x18650 flashlight supplied by Banggood

Arrived
No ring, again……

this happens too often I also had some drivers without rings lately
can you confirm it fits the light?

but it will be OK if you add a thin solder layer to the 3 screw spots to make contact with the brass ring
simply the metal layer needs to be higher than the mask paint

mail Oshpark and they will fully refund the drivers

and instead the 7135s more reliable regulators are those

I’m a bit skeptic that the X80 can put out 4000 lumen OTF continuously without getting blistering hot.

Has there been any update on the battery compartment with regards to the size of batteries this will accept. As it stands it will only accept unprotected flat tops?

I believe the production light will only take button-top batteries.

Lexel in the OP said

“The light is build for unprotected batteries, protected or button top unprotected won’t fit, the ones I have with a 2mm brass button fit barely
On the left the one with the brass button and on the right a flat top battery”

Yes, very perfect

Where’s the beamshots?

I try to make another use of the NarsilM firmware driver.
Not working properly still.
After installing the battery, direct light high, and then will not light up again.

Chinese:

I did today a measurement of the beam intensity of this light

measured @5m 2080 Lux cold start

so I get 52000 Lux @1m for the Nichia pre production light

this is just the Luxmeter set to show save max.
starting the light, 3 clicks to highest mode
then move the light a bit to get its peak output

Two big thumbs up!

Is there a likeliness that the driver spring might bend when tightening the battery tube, causing a short? Something similar happened with an Acebeam K70 here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?436281-Should-I-be-scared-my-Acebeam-K70-might-explode

What do you guys think?

This can not happen with the MF01

I did not show a picture from the driver with the insulator inserted

Basically the platic insulator you see on the carrier here fits inside the insulator on top of the driver the distance between spring and ground is 12.5mm, also there is no ground spring

And the distance between pisitive spring and the ground ring is 12.5mm

Aha, thanks. It’s a plastic ring on the driver side. The picture on the Banggood site showing the three parts, head, battery tube and tailcap, made me worry it might be aluminium.

Ugh… First video of busted MF01
