Exactly… thank you. :+1:
This storm is OVER 400 miles wide. It will & is now covering the entire Florida peninsula, east coast to west coast and will run up the entire state… Weakening a bit as it goes North…… but still BAD.
I am in Gadsden, AL (NE AL)…. We have Tropical Storm Warnings all the way up here for tomorrow!!
No big deal at all in the scheme of things, but that just shows what a MONSTER this storm is.
Hang tight SSV & all you people down there in the thick of it!! … :+1: …
PS…… Your “call” was never wrong SubSailorVet…… You said exactly what the storm was going to do…. “run up the middle of Florida”.
That is and has been for the last couple of days exactly what it was going to do.
That is what it is doing right this very moment… With about 100 or so miles ‘extra’ on each side of the state.
The eye will be making landfall right about where I said it would last night when it turned away from the North shore of Cuba.
So no sir… it was not, “to early to call” when you called it.
Upstate SC will see some winds tomorrow, gusts may be up to 50MPH. Rain too but not a lot unless Irma moves well eastward. Most hotels are filled here, some rooms left at smaller ones, a few evac shelters open and staffed, plenty of fuel and everything else at normal prices. People traveling I-85N won’t have any problems after you get out of Atlanta where it will be much worse in all regards tomorrow.
Took yesterday to trim some limbs and tidy up the yard against winds. Noticed the shutter on my LR window was in bad shape so I made another better one. Re-graded the yard a bit for drainage ro counter where my dog had dug. Always ready here otherwise. I’d expected to be working emergency comms at my local Hospital by now but I’m happy for the reprieve SC got lucky this time with Irma moving west but that only means someone else will be getting the problems we expected.
We were spared any severe damage here. We lost cable tv for most of the day and it just came back on and I’m seeing damage done in fl and ga. Looks like the storm did run up the entire state of fl and ruin some cities. Looks like some major damage done in my state of ga. I’m thankful we were spared but praying for those affected.
Thanks teacher. Yea, that dude wanted to tell me I was wrong when it was barreling down all over fl. What a tool. He is insignificant with his maps and satellite photos and predictions.
Glad you’re okay up there in my home town. I see Marta suspended ops. Atlanta usually gets paralyzed when any sort of weather hits. Guess that’s what happens when you have bad city county leadership.
Lots of rain and wind in middle Georgia, power has been out since 10AM Monday. Have a generator but it burns $125 in gas a day. Had to go try to buy some non-ethanol gas on the other side of town, went or 4 or 5 places and all were out. On the way home, was turned around 4 times because of trees downed on the road.
Sorry you’re having all those problems brother. I sent my generator to my cousins house today. Their power went out at 0300 yesterday, mine only flickered a few times and the worst I got was no cable tv for most of the day. We were blessed in my part of town that got minimal damage. Other parts of town were torn up good. I hope you can recover quick and don’t have to deal with it for any longer. Sending prayers your way. Good luck!
If you can get a hybrid generator that runs on fuel and propane would be a good asset. I run propane in mine and a 20 lb canister like used for grills will last 10 to 12 hours with no bad fumes, 4 gallons of fuel will run it for 8 hours with bad fumes. I’ll post the link for the generator I got off eBay for $349.00 for a 4800 watt hybrid generator.
