Is it just me or? Everytime say a family member for instance want to borrow a light, you get nervous. You have so many lights, but which light should they borrow? Your unregulated light is out of question, too big of a risk, it could overheat and break, and cells could get damaged or just drain too low. So you lend them a "safe" light that you bought. You ask what they are gonna do with it, you worry as if the flashlight was your child. Then you need to explain that the cells may run out and they need to make sure the light won't get too hot and voltage too low. They roll the eyes at you and ask can you charge this light ? This battery? Why would it get hot for ? Then they walk away, leaving you worried, what if my precious light fails?
Despite all your warnings, they give it back to you with cell voltage way low.
Then one day your dad borrows one of your self built high power unregulated lights, you freak out did it get too hot? Cell voltage ok? You freak out, why did you take that without asking me? Your dad walks off ignoring your speech.
I usually never lend one of the lights I built myself to anyone, because too much money and time spent building them, they are your babies!
A person borrowing your light, probably won't understand about rechargeable cells and the dangers of lithium cells.
They wont understand that the light can get too hot and voltage can get too low, possibly ruin both your light and cells.
What modes should they use? Explaining that to them aswell.
People who aren't into lights etc. Just don't understand how much we love our lights and that yes, they can be charged? Yes cells do run out, you can overcharge and overdischarge them. Yes the light can get too hot.
High power flashights are not toys period...
My lights are like my children that I care for and don't want anything tl happen to them. All of this can be exhausting. Does anyone else experince this worry as a flashaholic parent?
