That would mean a new body. I believe that would add to the cost and take it to a higher budget level. Using the same body as the Q8 makes it more budget friendly.
My Apologies everyone for my absence lately, I have ben going through some rough financial & family times these days, and recently been in a car accident. Trying to get back on my feet to get this lantern BLF project rolling for everyone. will take time, but its my goal to get this project off the ground with the help from other members on this project including TheMiller, ToyKeeper, DEL, Sac02, etc.
bear with me as i am trying to stay afloat with life’s downfalls.
Take care, I hope things will turn right again soon, and merry christmas.
With more and more BLF projects making it to a succesful end, I’m sure that the lantern project will move forward when it moves forward, and eventually the final product will be there and everyone will be happy with how great it is.
Color me interested - been looking for a good camping light, and your OP post seems to lay out everything well as far as features and design choices go.
The only thing I’m left wondering about is what the estimated weight will be like, given a full metal body and quad 18650. Hoping it’d still be suitable for backpacking and not just car camping =D
I have no idea what the projected weight of this light is. However, FWIW, the completed SRK I modded into my version of DBSAR’s lantern weighs in at exactly 500 grams with 4 Samsung 30Q cells inserted.
