I was on Feebay and thought about the Dumpster Brand batteries ! ( Dumpster Brand > Buy some batteries - Throw them in the dumpster cos there so bad )
We all know feebay is flooded with garbage batteries , but I find pleasure in testing them just to see how bad they are . ( Rather than how good )
Have we seen the 9800mAh batteries ? ( 18650 ) Yeah there a joke , unfortunately people are buying them and then doing things with them they should not do .
So lets get on with it !
I will discharge them ( well I did ) @ 0.5A , to 3v to see how much , or how little capacity is actually in these alleged 9800mAh batteries .
I got these as a pair , and the first discharge resulted in :
Would it be fair to say these are monumentally bad . Possibly dangerous , life threatening , absolute garbage that should not be for sale anywhere ? ( Would that be fair ? )
And so endith the public service announcement !
what a joke, and looking at ebay they sell ton of these and people honestly think they are legit i have even reported a few to ebay but nothing happens… sad this is allowed….
A few years ago i myself bought those red 18650 3000mah, didnt take long for me to realize what a piece of crap they are and now the madness continues almost 10 000mah scam
I guess a new limit of mAh for the 18650s has been settled
Some weeks ago I saw a 18650 adverstised as 6000mAh!!! Strange thing is…it is being sold in a very reputable store of electronics from the town! But I couldn’t hold my laugh and laugh to the store’s employee ’cause of that
Thanks for the heads up on this
Yes , I do plan on cutting them open ! ( not into the guts )
I have some other plans for these cells ( experiments ) that require de labeling …
Unfortunately the internal capacity is so low that they are next to useless to actually use . ( Which is unfortunate )
Honestly , I think there are people in Chine dumpster diving for factory rejected cells that are then labeled and sold with some crazy capacity claim .
Or perhaps a Government conspiracy to get the west to pay for and dispose of (?) some ones toxic waste ( be a good plan ) .
actually they do use those cells that most of us in here wouldnt touch with an iron glove and re-wrap them for the so called ultrafire 9800mah battery and the others, they make huge money just look ebay those batteries how many sold… its crazy…
Its just sad how many people buy and use those batteries in their lights etc without knowing how dangerous and crap they are.
Many of these batteries are new, not reused, but produced to be cheap batteries with about 500mAh.
Reused batteries has an extra metal plate on the bottom to hide the 4 dots from the spot welding used in a battery pack. When tested they will vary widely in capacity, from dead to fairly decent.
They exist, but I have never succeed in getting some, maybe because the 500mAh cells are cheaper to produce, than getting a small cell and stuffing that into a 18650 can.
