These soft lens caps that for the gt , they may not protect the glass if dropped lens first or bashed lens first against something , so I was thinking maybe a round disc cut from 3mm or 6mm plywood put inside the soft cap might be a good idea ( cut to the same width as the outside of bezel ) wadya think?

I plan to do the same thing but use a piece of plexiglass instead of wood

You could also get thicker neoprene foam insulation and glue it in. I’ve seen it up to 1” thick. What I saw was used for pipe insulation. I would think hard substances would just transmit any shock directly to the lens where something cushioning would prevent it from getting to the lens. Heck, a piece of the packing would do the job, but I don’t know if it could be glued in place. Loose would also work I should think.

FWIW, I don’t know if there were complaints. Maybe one, but I didn’t take it as a complaint (I didn’t see the above post). I know my comment regarding the small OP effect wasn’t a complaint; it was merely an observation.

TBC, you could sell your light if you’re unhappy with it and the price paid for it. There would be plenty of folks who missed the cutoff who would be happy to take it off of your hands. That would free you up to but the light of your choice made with the lathe of your choice.

Does anyone know how the reflector is finished? Is it plated or electro polished? If it’s electro polishing the OP effect is the result of cooking it a little too long.

I assumed it was physical vapor deposition (PVD) as most modern reflectors are. Maybe one of the Team members knows for sure and can clarify it.

• The GT has low voltage warning and shut-off. At what battery voltages does this happen?
  • At 12.0 V (3.0 V per cell) the GT will blink the main LED and step down in power. It will do this repeatedly until the battery voltage recovers above 12 V.
  • At 11.2 V (2.8 V per cell) the GT will blink rapidly and shut down the main LED.
    Note that these voltages can be ~0.05 V per cell off in either direction, depending on the component tolerances and temperature. These voltages are monitored under load and cells will read higher when removed and measured outside the light.

These numbers are from the NarsilM 1.2 source code, but I did also confirm them using a power supply on a production light.

I put Neals “paid/shipping lists” back on post one. I think they are only semi helpful due to not being complete and outdated, but if it helps anyone, it’s there.

It seems quite a few of the packages are being sent without tracking notices sent (from DHL). I’m not sure why. If you’ve paid for your light, but haven’t got a tracking notification from DHL, it’s quite easy to call them at 800-CALL-DHL or 800-225-5345. If your outside of the USA there might be a different phone number. Just go to their website and click the link for customer service. Call them up and ask for a representative. Then just give them your name and zip code (or whatever represents your country). I tried it just for giggles. It was quite easy and the operator was very nice.

I don’t know if registered mail can be checked. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to check with your local mail service.

Or you can just be surprised when it arrives. That’s pretty cool, too.

Even though Neal couldn’t ship by the exact order of those that paid or of those that signed up, he is still doing his best to use the order that was paid. These recent international shipments seem to be for people on the early side of the paid list as evidenced below. (These are paid list numbers)

Did 275 lights ship or just 200 or so DHL lights? We will have to wait for more info.

There were 362 shipped from the first 2 shipnents. Those were both USA shipments.

There seems to be a lot of international lights shipping now. See post #1 for details.

I also just posted a list a names on post #15426 that shows the paid list numbers of these most recent shipments. You are #101 on that paid list and people all around you have gotten shipping notices so there is a good chance yours has shipped as well. I suggest calling DHL and asking if you have a package on the way.

Who’s light is that on the left? I can see it looks pretty rough.

The cutting tool is expensive. The flashlight is cheap. For this reason, the tool can not be changed frequently. A worn tool makes worse the surface. It’s a compromise. Just my opinion. I am also a metalworker.

thanks, but no result. Switch cover is definitely not opaque, I unscrewed it.
It must be lighted, at least after successfull factory reset.

You never saw any green light from the switch, even though the main led works fine?

You were able to unscrew the switch cover, but it is or isn’t opaque?

Opaque meaning solid, so no light gets through.

It should look like this:

If light does NOT go through your switch cover then send a PM to Texas_Ace and he will see you get a new one.

Ps, do your green leds light up?

They are a lot weaker than on the Q8.

My switch cover looks exactly the same. Green leds do not light up.

I am not new to flashlights. So I could remove the driver and see if there are any issues. But it would void the warranty.

I have some news on emitter swaps.

I talked to Richard at Mountain Electronics (RMM on these forums and a sponsor here) and told him there might be more than a few guys with GT’S interested in swapping to a cooler tint. He says that if you send in your stock mcpcb to him and buy one of his new XHP35-HI emitters, he will reflow it for free! He has 2 choices right now, 5,000k and 5700k tint. They are both the same D4 brightness bin as the stock GT 4000k emitter.

The cost of both are under $8, plus the shipping cost there and back. I’m in Texas and shipping a small package from him is usually $2 to $3. So I would estimate the entire cost at under $15.

Once again if there is anything important I missed, point it out to me.

For the reflector quality questions, we are looking into it. I am waiting for a reply about it now.

It was only pointed out to me yesterday, so give it some time, it is being worked on.

So far most of the reflector pictures I have seen were no worse then the V1 prototype reflector, which we had approved as being ok and also what got the 1.29mcd throw reading from VOB. If the quality is at least up to that level, there is no need to worry about it. We had agreed that it was acceptable when we saw it and nothing has changed now.

Lumintop was nice enough to try to improve the quality, this was purely a bonus for us but it has caused big delays in the production.

Which is where this thread actually plays a role I am afraid.

Lumintop is watching this thread, they do not speak english very well but enough to get the general idea.

When every other post is someone complaining that their GT has not shipped it sends a message that they should focus on quantity over quality and get them shipped out the door.

Can’t really blame them, I would even have to consider such a move in their shoes if I was reading this thread.

The fact is you can’t have it both ways, they can ship out faster with the V1 quality reflectors or it will be done when it is done.

People need to send a clear message one way or the other. Either they want it done now and are willing to accept the faster machined reflectors that come with that or they want the highest quality possible regardless of how long it takes.

They are not getting a “pass” on bad quality. The agreed upon quality was the V1 reflector, anything else was a bonus.

Now I am looking into the pictures and reports of the reflectors to see if any are not up to even the V1 quality standards. So far I have not seen any that are noticeably worse but I once again have only known about it for one day.

If you have a suspect reflector, please PM me a picture of it.

Far as shipping me a bad reflector, I will not be doing that on a mass scale, just no point.

That said if someone wants to send a suspect reflector and is willing to pay return shipping, I can install it in my light and compare the lux readings to see what kind of difference it makes. My guess is it will be a negligible difference within the margin for error of the test setup but I could be wrong.

I mean I have seen tests before between SMO and full on OP reflectors that showed only minor difference in lux readings.

I just bought 8 new lights over this past month. With that said, I’m in no hurry to get chewed out by my wife for buying another flashlight…! Especially one that’s not gonna be easy to hide…
