This is just a guess Jason… but I bet if it just happened all at once, after previously working fine; it has been deactivated …. as you mentioned. And a factory reset, as you also mentioned; will solve it.
I have done this a few times myself by accident…… :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:
Factory reset was my friend……
.
. Below is a link to the simplest Factory Reset directions I have found.
Hope this solves it…….
Let us know.

Edit for spelling….
yeh, when you check the battery voltage by doing three clicks…sometimes sticky fingers or whatever can make strange things happen…little green light goes byebye
Jason. It does flash , but doesn’t stay on in a standby line it did originally.
Teacher. I think you’re on the right path for me. I saw those instructions, but they begin with “while displaying the firmware number “. I don’t know how to get to that display mode
Ok. So click followed by press & hold only ramps me up to max. Not landing in battery mode. Which is before firmware mode, which is before reset series.
My Q8 still works great. My favorite SRK-type light in my collection. :sunglasses: I have not had the time to do any mods yet to it yet though, but plan on adding a blue “glow” light to the switch, & replacing the green with warm white leds for night light use with the current circuitry. Also to add a lanyard.

Also search for “tripod” in the thread. There’s a variety of ways to attach to the tripod socket, some of which include belt clip/quick release attachments.
Just wanted to note that I as well had issues with the indicator light under the switch in my Q8. I think I was one of the first to receive it too, taking delivery in October sometime if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, I wanted to share with the thread that I followed the prompt of Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light - #16704 by AlexGT to remove the switch cover and fiddle around with the LEDs and resistor with a soldering iron (while batteries were installed and the light was off) and I was able to revive the LEDs to full brightness. Before this fix, I had not seen the LEDs illuminate in weeks.
