I got a text from DHL last night that my 2nd round light is on its way to USA, no ETA given.
Congratulations! Lumintop must love the USA very much.
Not that they love the USA so much as they love DHL and most of the DHL shipments are going to the USA.
It is perfectly understandable as well, I have yet to hear about a real issue with the DHL shipping but I know that the registered mail will have issues, it always does.
No one is looking forward to dealing with those issues.
I’m very sure that is not what is happening, as Bozlight pointed out, chinese sellers have no problem using registered shipping. What is way more likely is that they (Neal? Lumintop?) have simply not figured out how to do the double packaging, and like everyone who is not facing consequences for the way they do things (things are handled in a random way until it is directly affected by money, reputation in China is not highly regarded) ; the easy stuff is done first.
In shipping, none of the BLF group buys went well so the BLF teams organising them should be frank about that: it comes when it comes, in random and unfair order.
(although they never promised complete fairness, the GT team expected shipping to be smoother than it went)
“It ships when it ships” was very firmly stated many, many times before any full payments were taken.
Before that it was said quite a few times that getting them before the end of the year 2017 would be highly unlikely. We are but a mere 3 weeks into 2018 with around 130 days left on paypal protection.
Crossing the beams does no harm (unless it’s taking a while for the Aliens to respond)
Even from 1.31 miles away, don’t look into the business end!
One of my friends (the one on the far side of the lake) had a meter set up, an GT with XHP-35 HD E4 5700K emitter showed 0.2 lux at 1.31 miles, one with an XHP-35 HI D4 5700K showed the same 0.3 lux as my sliced HD E4 5700K variant. So the two with the tighter beams did 1.323Mcd across the lake on a 90% humidity night, extrapolated to 1.429 miles throw. This was determined by reverse engineering the formula to get .3 lux at 1.31 miles.
3 GT’s together put 0.5 lux on the far beach. Pretty neat out at the lake seeing opposite shore lines and such. The one friend with the meter said when we shined the GT’s over his head he could clearly see the beam in the night air, that column of blue-white light, so the beam is still visible at over 2100 meters. Way cool stuff!
Does anyone know where I can purchase the same XHP35 HI 4000k D4 LED emitters used in the BLF GT? I want to reflow a few into some of my lights. Thanks.
I am also wanting to get some of these as well, got a boost driver I am about to start playing with and I really like these.
Although I have been talking to Neal about them and he actually found an even better LED option that he tried to send me for testing but sadly it was lost along the way.
If they test well they should be a very good XHP35 option and could even make it into the next round of GT’s if they test very good. They are 4500k vs 4000k.
Really interested in a 4500k option too on a seperate board. Nice to know you guys continue to improve the light in anyway, thats great dedication.
Thanks BoxCarWillie that site is wonderful just need to find the exact bin, and hopefully it doesnt require a minimum of 1000 emitters.
Sadly They do not have the same LED, I have already looked. They only have like 1 XHP35 HI LED sadly. They have several XHP35 HD’s to pick from.
I got one of them to play with on the boost drivers I am about to start testing.
Thanks for letting me know, on a side note do you know the exact bin on the XHP35 Hi used in the BLF GT? That way I could look up any data on it. Thanks.
From the lake shots, my buddy’s pics from his iPhoneX with flash turned off… the GT with HD emitter first, then the sliced HD, then the 3 lights together, (HD, sliced HD, and HI) The light you see on the meter is from the GT across the lake at 1.31 miles, there simply was no other light present. No guard lights, nothing.
All 3 put light on the water tower at 1.9 miles, even in the high humidity…
At first I was angry that people who just saw video of GT and decided that they need one, actually received their lights just month or two after registered on BLF… But wth it’s just a business for Lumintop,or any other Chinese company!
Why would they care if only 200 of us voted for design of GT, voted for emitter to be installed, voted for name of this beast……
Simply my money is not worth more than anyone else’s so they can arrange shipping what ever they want as long as they keep quality on the same level as it should be…
I will stay cool and simply wait for my package to arrive, still have 35 days of 180 Paypal protection guarantee for the deposit payment..

Thank you so much! Wow! I didn’t know that they were making the XHP70 MCPCB for the GT already! Gotta order one! Not sure if to order the 2 oz copper (will it fit the GT Thickness wise) or the standard, I see that there is a minimum quantity of 3

The Apache 3800 from Harbor Freight is currently selling for $30 with coupon and fits the GT very well, with space for 3 soda can lights. I think that’s a great deal, but the Member’s Mark 24” Protective Case from Sam’s Club is even better.
It sells for $30, but may be on clearance for $20 at your local Sam’s Club. It’s even bigger, so you may be able to fit two GT’s, or just a crap load of lights. It also has more latches, plus has wheels and a pull out handle. This looks like the case for the flashaholic that wants to transport a couple of BLF GT’s and a dozen BLF Q8’s, which may actually be a real use case for some people here.

And this is exactly what it is, as a blf member that chose registered mail because this great dhl let us pay 55 dollar extra in Europe, I don’t feel represented by the team in this case. I can wait, no problem, but I don’t like misinformation. Lumintop should not offer registered mail if they don’t want to use it. It’s a bit strange, all my other lights came with registered mail without problems and with tracking.
I perfectly get your point, i mean, we paid almost 2 months ago under the promise that the lights would be shipped in the order of payments, so i paid almost directly when i got the PM for the first 555 group.
It’s quite disappointing to see that everything goes to the states, all is DHL, and they are even shipping lights to the states for the third group, while some (European) guys who chose registered, are waiting for two months now and they are not even shipped yet.
I knew that registered will take some thime, but this is something to take in mind with the next groupbuy, guys, please take care of this next time!
Please make sure these things are communicated next time.
For now, i will try to be patient and wait till the end of March, which will probably be when my GT arrives.

I have until February 22 at 12:18 PST, 32 days
The shipment of DHL will take from China to my country from 6 to 10 days
Reading carefully the email received from Neal at no time does he say that he will send me the DHL tracking code as soon as it is sent so that I can make the customs declaration in good time before it arrives in my country
I hope he sends me DHL tracking in time to make the correct customs declaration as I asked

Your still gonna get yours before many others even get a chance to pay for theirs. Think positive. No need for negativity.
You were not responding to me but your post does apply: I think that many people, like me, and the GT-team, think extremely positive about this group buy (and regularly post about it ) but at the same time are a bit disappointed about how the shipping goes and showing that as well. LOL, for flashoholics no flashlight is just a flashlight

For me it is also a lot of money
I have been thinking positive for many days, but positive thinking is being consumed little by little and each time there less

That mcpcb was simply a design I sent lumintop on how to make the xhp70 mcpcb. DO NOTORDER IT. It will be useless as it will not be a DTP mcpcb but just a normal fiberglass mcpcb. I forgot to unshare it after they looked at it.

How are you measuring the lumens? Is your sphere made out of 5” PVC?
On mine I can’t fit the whole head and it causes the readings to be much lower.
Although that is about right amount of improvement for the HD, they are usually around 500 lumens above the HI.

To all those worried about getting your light and upset over the shipping time.
No one is happy with how long the shipping has taken, we had assumed maybe 2-3 weeks to finish this, not 2-3 months.
The fact is there is nothing the team or lumintop could have done to make it faster. The lights are all ready to go, expect for the reflectors.
