[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Poor spring. Is it possible to bypass it? What else can be done to decrease the resistance in BLF GT if we want to use high current emitters?

I would gladly pay for future group buys in crypto

Of cause. I mean without heatsink and other unneeded package contents.

Yep you can bypass all springs, even the center spring with out losing the motion to make contact with the other carrier and driver contact.

Melt down…

Added brass center screws… because I had them laying around doing nothing…

Just keep in mind, you want to keep the range of motion in the center contact springs so there will be no issues making contact, the GT could bottom out the center contacts when the battery tube is tightened, the carriers also have to make ground between the carriers and the driver board, if you do the bypass wrong and the contacts are too tall, you will not make ground.

My GT returns to china

Head arrived. Badly hit. It is unacceptable.
How can I get replacement?

Seeing how inadequate the packaging is, damage like this was just a matter of time. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

It looks like they dropped it on hard concrete while the box was still wet. I’m guessing Neal will need to send you a new light engine, the lower half of the head.

Stick to 12v emitters?

Kawiboys situation is pretty unique with a fet driver and 6v emitter from a Lumintop SD75.

Still, if I were gonna do this conversion I would not use braided copper as I’ve burned through that at 18A before (maybe get the widest, thickest braid you can?). Would regular copper wire work?

What is best way to contact him about that?
Mike

I would start a PM with Texas_Ace as he’s making a list of issues to talk to Neal about.

You can send “Neal” a message on here, hopefully he gets back to you soon.

Martin sent out an email to everyone in the GB about a week ago asking if anyone had problems. Reply to that with your problem and it will get added to the list of issues Neal needs to take care of.

Sorry guys, just double check. Can I use 30Q flat top ? I loaded 8 30Q flat cells, Also with VTC6 cells and not turn on my light. Something is wrong?

Flat top don’t work. You can always add a solder blob to raise the positive contact, though.

This is the gap which provides polarity protection.

.

It seems that all those badly damaged cardboxes were from the same group of shipment. I noticed that they all have the “lumintop” adhesive tape.
Another group with only minor damages, or no damage, to the cardboxes was sealed with a translucent adhesive tape with no brand name.

Thanks, is work now. I used temporary small magnets insert between all 8 cells.

Mine also got some scratches on head part. could be caused by transport.

From the group “Flashlight Fanatics” on FB is becoming e-shop BLF GT … Another for sale is in Norway.

No issues yet and I’m pulling 22.3amps, but its a pure copper braid. Got Silver coated braid too that’s heavier if needed.

Oh.
But you can already get it from mouser without any other contents…just the LED.
The discount from buying multiple units is very small, only a few dollars.
