FF4 firefoxes fried components help

Hi all, recently i got a non working FF4 to see if It can be fixed. I found that the board where the e switch is attached have two fried components and are unidentificable at least for me.

Maybe someone that owns a working FF4 can help me with this

The first pic shows the fried components and the second is the reverse of the PBC. The grey wires are from the switch

Thanks a lot

Any one good in electronics? the Flashlight runs on 4S 18650, electronic switch and 3 modes 24/40/60watt. This PCB is the one conected to the switch via two grey wires. The brown and the two white ones goes to the main driver.

Anyone?

Top pic might be a LM7555 (CMOS version of 555 timer), being that right next to it I see a R, R, and C. Don’t quote me on that. (Debounce circuit, who knows…)

Even so, if some glitch caused something to fry, there’s a good chance that even replacing fried components without fixing what made them fry in the first place, will only let the replaced-with components fry, too.

Kinda like asking “what fuse is this that blew in my XYZ?”. Replace the fuse, turn it on, pouf!, new fuse blows, too.

How in the world did you get to the boards?
I can remove the battery tube from the head and unscrew the front bezel on my working FF4 but that’s as far as I can go. The lens and reflector don’t want to budge at all.

Hi dear, you have to pull gentle the reflector lamp assy. Underneath is a threaded ring. with a pointed fine screwdriver you have to engage the slots in the ring and unscrew it. But before all of it you must dismantle the switch and unsolder the two grey wires. then you can pull all the driver, boards and lamp assy fro the front. If you can get a picture of the components burned in mine it will be great!

OK.
I will give it a go this coming weekend and report back.
You have a flashlight worth saving.
Wish me luck!

Good luck but remember be gentle all the time and take your time. There is no rush, By the way. do you have the owner’s manual? Thanks a lot

I no longer have the shipping box it came in and if I recall correctly the manual featured no english so no need for a english/french only speaker like me to hang onto it but I could be wrong.

There are a quite a few web crawler sites that archive web pages and the information page for the FF4 might be available but you will have to do some detective work.

Thanks dear

Yes it seems that for sure is a LM7555. Another friend who saw the pic said the same as you. And you are right, I have to figure it out what components are and what causes them fry. Thanks

No worries, glad I could help.
