Guess the place (the game)

Nope, it's not near the Mediterranean.

Wellington, New Zealand

Yup, Wellington Harbor.

Excellent!

This is where?

…on the south shore of one of the world’s 25 largest islands

Newfoundland (island), Canada

Indeed it is!!

Do I need to be more specific than the island of Newfoundland?

Only if you want to look deeper into it... the pictured location is along the shore of a 9 letter-in-name Bay, and has the same name as the bay.

There is ferry service to the village/town.

Describing the location as on the south shore of a large island is correct. However, when looking at a more zoomed in level, the location is on the north side of a bay shore on a finger of land on the larger pictures south shore. Does that make sense?

Anyhow, one way or another it is your turn to post an image, now or very soon.

Harricott Bay

Placentia Bay

Oooh, good guess. More to the WNW though by about 100 miles as the crow flies.

Rencontre Bay

Closer… but Rencontre Bay is approx 37 miles too far west, I don’t think there is a scheduled ferry to Rencontre Bay, but I may be in error on that.

Hermitage Bay

Ta-da!! Yes! Very Good!

47°33’26.31”N 55°55’31.18”W plugged into Google Earth will show the docks

I was looking for nine letter bays in Southern Newfoundland...

Finally got it!

Guess the place!

Nepal, but I can get more exact if that is correct. But later as I have “everyday life” stuff to get done…. taxes :frowning:

Yes, it's Nepal.

It is a view of Kathmandu photographed from the Swayambhunath, one of the oldest religious sites in Nepal. Some details looked correct but others had differences. Then I recalled there was an earthquake in 2015. That would explain why the roof of the building in the center forefront of the image looks very different in more recent images, as found on Google Earth (10-2017).

How’s that sound to you?
