Texas_Ace: yuhsin91123:50k+ lumen after mod? Damn…! That’s going to be very dangerous lol.
Question:
Does MT09R throw more than the BLF Q8? I ask because I’m a fan of flood lights and the Q8 might be my limit of the throw… not saying it’s a bad thing. I just like to have a sea of light in front of me lol.
I have the following “big lumen” lights: MT03, MF01, BLF Q8. Where does the MT09R landed in terms of flood.Flood effect in orders: MT03> MF01> BLF Q8
The MT90 does throw further then the Q8 but it also have between 2x-5x the lumens so that figures.
It also has quite a bit of flood although if you really want flood then go with the MT03, that is the best flooder I own.
The MT09 is kind of like the Q8 with 4-5 x the lumens lol.
If it’s the big lumen that’s making it throwing far away then that’s giving. If they all have the same lumen and throw the same then I’m really close from pulling triggers lol.
Last question (hopefully…) is the Price for modding MT03 the same as MT09? , I have the XHP 70, 9000 lumen version. And I’m talking about upgrading LED to achieve 20k lumen
The extra throw comes from a combo of the lumens and the reflector size. Even when split up into multiple LED’s the larger the total reflector size, the further the throw as a rule. There are so many more lumens the it is simply brighter everywhere. Although if you turn it down then yes, it would have a bit less flood and a bit more throw then the Q8 as equal outputs.
Yes, the MT03 is the same price as the MT09 as long as the batteries are 2s2p, if they are 4S there is $15 extra labor to convert it.
And here comes another question :person_facepalming:
4S means all battery insert the same direction right….?
Mine is 2 in 2 out so I would assume that’s 2S2P?
Does anyone know what are the best batteries to power the MT03?
Does anyone know what are the best batteries to power the MT03?
I have the Sony VTC 6. But for maximum power (without testing) the VTC 5A should give you more

Are the 2 cells pointing up/down side by side or diagonal?

These are good cells, I generally just use 30Q myself since they are cheaper.
Also I have two MF01. One is stock and the other one is modded by Lexel. The Lexel modded one with buck driver puts out 1615 lux at startup and the stock puts out 1244 lux at startup on fully charged VTC6 batteries. UI on the modded one is idential to the Emisar D4
Lexel should be using the TA FET driver in the MF01, not a buck driver.
It should also have NarsilM in it while the D4 uses RampingIOS. They are pretty similar, but not identical.

I have the 30Q on the BLF Q8. Was hoping to try out a different set of batteries on the MT03
Since you have had quite a few MT03 came your way, any idea if they will take flat top batteries???
hIKARInoob:Further improvement should become reality soon when the 8x18650 tube is available. I think this should have a more positive effect on output than 4x21700.
It depends on the cell. 4 of the new 30T cells should outperform 8 30Q as far as amperage. I think about 25% more amperage, but you trade off run time.
Where could I find 4 of these. Seriously I would love to test some out.
yuhsin91123:TA do you mod other lights too? such as MF01… the UI on that isn’t very good and I want to have ramp mod on that too (plus some extra power lol)
In the case of the MF01, I have not personally seen one so I am not sure what improvements there are to be made with it. I am sure they are possible, just not sure what they are without pulling it apart for myself.
Besides the driver swap, an important consideration is whether you’re working on a early version 1 or a later version 2 MF01.
Version 1 has 6 wires going to the leds and uses 6 volts.
Version 2 has 2 wires going to the leds and uses 18 volts.
If it’s version 2 you will have to cut traces on the mcpcb and add some wires to get it to accept 6v. This extra work for version 2 has to be factored in.

There is only one place selling them, IMR Batteries in Houston, and they are $18 each. Shipping was $11 for 2 of them according to DBCUSTOM. So not cheap, at least for right now.

That's a ton of power from even a single cell. May have to wait until next week and I am not seeing a button top so some solder blobs and these should prove to be trying to find somewhere to get my hands on a few dozen.
Thanks very much...

His FET driver is cheaper and higher power than his buck version. But I chose the buck version because I wanted to be able to maintain the lumens even on non full batteries.
Since I don’t configure the UI, the controls feels the same to me. I like it simple ramping like that.

Okay, so he converted the carrier to 12v for you? Then the buck driver runs at 6v? Interesting.
yea he modded the carrier to 4S
Jason the driver runs on 3S LED board and 13.5A
This is easier to convert from 6S v2 and more efficient more power
so about 130W wo the LEDs

I don’t understand what you mean.
Led board = mcpcb?
3S = the mcpcb is 3S6P so it needs 9 volts?
So the buck driver is 12v to 9v?
I thought that buck driver was limited to 6A at 12v or 9A at 9v. You are getting 13.5A to the emitters at about 11 actual volts?
I use a board with 2 Buck regulators at 6.75A

Cells will be side by side (2 up and 2 down next to each other)
