Group Buy: Wuben TO10R and TO46R (real 90+CRI triple XP-G3) - CLOSED!!

They are not from the same batch and will be re-tested. The question is whether weā€™d like to wait (1-2 weeks?) more for the test or trust them and test only afterward? Opinions?

Zymurgy's First Law Of Evolving System Dynamics: Once You Open A Can Of Worms, The Only Way To Recan Them Is To Use A Larger Can.

I'm willing to wait.

But.

If they're re-tested and found to not be identical or in some way otherwise slightly flawed, does that not open yet another can of worms?

I'll be happy with excellence if perfection is unobtainable.

I will give my honest opinion: I donā€™t mind waiting for 2 or more weeks in order to be sure that these really are High CRI LEDs!
I got enough lights to play with until the TO46R + emitters arrive to my door, so Iā€™m also willing to wait in order to be sure that the quality is the expected!

Once again, thanks =the= and maukka! And Wuben!

BTW, I hope all this process contributes to Wuben offer more lights with High CRI LEDs on their already well built lights! They will have a AA or AAA flashlight to be released in some months and I hope to have a High CRI LED on that

I donā€™t mind waiting to ensure everyone gets what they expect.

I donā€™t mind waiting either, best to take the time needed to get things done right

Yeah I also think we should get them tested :+1:

.
I also vote for testing.

Thanks. Added to the list. PM replied.

There are still a couple of TO46R and some TO10R left for latecomers (or in case anyone in the GB wants to reserve some extras) => PM me to secure your spot.

hi the are the lights shipping around May 21st or is that when the batch will be secured for testing?

We are doing our best to get a sample tested already before May 21st. Hoping the best.

Interested in group buy, PM sent

PM replied.

Iā€™m assuming no LVP in the T046R, hence the included protected Wuben cell??

Anyone want to suggest an alternate cell that they know will fit? Is the Wuben cell a known and trusted rewrap?

Iā€™ve tried out the Wuben LT35 and Wuben L50 flashlights which include a Wuben ABE2600 protected 2600mAh 18650 in the flashlight package.
My guess is the TO46R will also come with the same Wuben ABE2600 18650 (Iā€™m not sure about the TO10R, what kind of battery will be included though).

From my previous tests of the Wuben ABE2600 (using MC3000, discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off, I got 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity, so it seems to be pretty accurate). The protection circuit of the Wuben ABE2600 trips at around 6A (similar to the Liitokala protected NCR18650B that I also have).

(Now itā€™s unlike the Sofirn 18650 ā€” Iā€™ve also bought Sofirn flashlights with packaged 18650 from the AE store, there are 2 types of Sofirn 18650s bundled with their flashlights, I canā€™t seem to determine when theyā€™ll send one or the other ā€” Iā€™ve gotten Sofirn 18650 thatā€™s labeled ā€œ2800mAhā€ and is a protected 18650, and Iā€™ve also gotten Sofirn 18650 thatā€™s labeled ā€œ3000mAhā€ and is an unprotected 18650. (The Sofirn protected ā€œ2800mAhā€ 18650 also trips at around 6A current)

Doing capacity tests of those Sofirn ā€œ2800mAhā€ protected and ā€œ3000mAhā€ unprotected 18650 batteries, using the same procedure above, MC3000 discharge @ 0.50A to 2.50v cut-off; Iā€™m only getting 2600+ to 2700+ mAh capacity ā€” practically similar capacity as the Wuben ā€œ2600mAhā€ 18650s, which are at least labeled properly and correctly).

Thereā€™s LVP at 2.4V.

Hoping these start shipping tomorrow

Iā€™m pretty sure weā€™re still waiting to get a sample tested?
