I raised my spending limit to $250. I’m hoping it will be less.
‘Theodore’ would be proud my friend….
Hope you had a good 4th!!!
Mine was great. I hope yours was great as well. Had a few friends over for some BBQ and drinks. I wish you and The Beave could have been here. That said, I’m super excited about this improved version of the GT!
Great, glad to hear that! Mine was find too. Uneventful but fine.
I wish I could have been there too. I think The Beave was unavailable however… rumor has it Ward had ‘grounded’ him for a few days…. some kind of trouble he had gotten into with Clarence.
Yep…. I think the GT70 may well be a ‘game changer’…. time will tell. But I am excited too!
And the way this Group Buy is set up is just downright inpressive. TA has done good it seems… Real Good.
Take care my friend……

Was the Beave stuck in another soup bowl? When will he ever learn? Poor Ward, he had to deal with these major problems in the early 60’s. Can you imagine if he was still alive today dealing with millennials. LOL…..
Filled out the survey!
In for one conversion kit.
Wish they sold the pre-made light engine with shaved dome by itself but it sounds like it is what it is.
Thank you!
The de-dome option is something we are looking into. If they can prove to me they are capable of slicing the dome consistently and correctly the plan is to make it an option at check out.
Until they prove to me they can do it though I am not putting it on the sign up sheet.
The cost would be between $10-$15 I am guessing to have them slice the dome since I am sure it would have to be done by hand but they have not confirmed anything.
1x BLF GT70 (NW), I would prefer a 4000K version, cause I really like the original GTs tint…
(if NW will be around 5000K, a CW version will probably be better…)
and I hope the price will be more like 200.- not 240.-……
1x conversion kit, in case I manage to open my existing GT….
I wished the price would be less as well but they learned their lesson with the last GT sale when they also lost a whole lot of money. They only broke even in the last few hundred lights and the net profit was hardly anything. Particularly on a $100,000++ investment.
If we could get 500 people to sign up I am pretty sure I could get the price a bit lower but not sure there will be enough time for that to happen before they ship.
If we get closer to that number so it looks reasonable I can talk to them and see what I can do. If they see a lot of interest I will have more leverage which is why I stopped negating at 400 people.

I’m not exactly sure what the problem was this time. It could have been another soup bowl.
Yeah…. poor ol’ Ward would in a state of perpetual shock if he was in this day & time…. compared to the 60’s. A whole different ballgame… and not necessarily a better one either.

First of all, I’m happy, that I won’t miss this.
To spread news to many people in this short time period will sure be tricky…
How much more expensive are the GT70 parts alone, compared to the original GT?
Didn’t you already reach 9k lumens with one prototype?
So why now “only” 7.5k lumens? Or is this just a lower limit…?
Not complaining. Just curious…
If they are going to make spare parts available can you make sure they make the bezel and other parts easily removable?
With that said I filled out the interest form for 1x NW, maybe batteries, maybe lens
Already tried to do this during the first group buy but they would have none of it. They don’t want people opening the light, we are just lucky it is not glued, so we need to count our blessings there.
Texas_Ace, is there a chance to ship the spare parts (kit, lens, carriers, reflector, batts) as registered mail?
I would to avoid an absurd fees, that DHL ask for imported packages from China.
This I do not know. I would assume they would all ship together but the bag and cap shipped seprately last time due to not enough space in the GT box. So that might happen anyways this time as well.
I can ask but I would not put a lot of weight on the answer based on past situations like this.

Indeed, it will be tricky to spread the word enough and for people to have the money to spend in such a short amount of time. Depending on when the lights ship I might talk them into leaving the group buy open longer, the price will just be locked into whatever it was when it “closed”. We will see when it happens.
The parts are a bit more expensive but mostly the GT itself is far more expensive to make and in particular to ship then they planned on when they set the first GB price. They learned their lesson and the price increase is nessicary to turn a profit, which is a good thing.
Had they not broken even /made a profit on the last GT (which it did not look like they would for awhile) we would not have this GT70. The fact it was so close last time is a big part of why this version took so long, they only agreed to it with the price hike.
I then talked them into the tiered pricing system to give people the chance for a lower price, they wanted a flat $240 regardless of quantity
Far as the lumen readings, there are a few factors.
First the 9k reading was on my old sphere calibration, which I found out was too high. I am using my new ANSI based calibration that reads lower.
Second I do underrate things, I saw over 7500 lumens with the test light but we still do not know what the production LED will be so I have to keep some wiggle room.
It is not really a lower limit, just an educated estimate with some wiggle room. Final numbers will be after a production LED is selected.
Signed up for 1 GT70 and 2 cell carriers.
I love my wife’s toy poodle

Submitted the form.

I think I made a mistake somewhere when I did the reserve. Please correct my mistake team Giggle Monster
I would like to reserve 2 units CW and NW no conversion kit. Thank you sorry for the mistake.

Thanks for doing this! Was going to go for the stock blf gt but then I saw this.
Can the MCPCB & centering ring be made available for a seperate purchace?
Thanks.
1x conversion kit
Already asked. It would probably cost ~$45, so not worth the savings over the full kit.
Signed up for the kit, plus lens and reflector if it happens.Awesome work TA.
This would be great.
Though I was lucky with my 2 original GTs, and didn’t have to pay anything in addition, I don’t want to push my luck…
I’m in for one.
