Isn’t the original switch just a Omten? Do they not make a forward clicky version? I could be very wrong.
EDIT: just did a quick BLF search and found it isn’t that simple. Forward clicky switches are simply bigger. Also, they aren’t explored much around here, probably because modding from one type of switch to the other isn’t something most members are interested in. Sorry I can’t help.
I wish I had a better lead to go on here, but in disassembling the tail of a Wuben I331 recently, I realized that it had a forward-clicky almost the exact same size as the Omten 1288 (like what’s in the S2+, M1, C8, and many others). It’s round and slightly taller, but probably close enough that it would swap into many without much effort or fitment issues.
I looked all over for identifying markings, but couldn’t come up with anything. Perhaps I can reach out to Wuben and see if they’ll share details about it.
I’ve been searching for Forward clickies for the S2+ and other lights, but they normally are too big to fit under the metal tailcaps or, in smaller lights, to fit the tail at all!
Some time ago, this thread was initiated, but the swicthes are smaller that the Omten ones… 9mm forward clicky switch
If you can manage to get some answers from wuben, let us know please
Will do. I’ve reached out, let’s see if they respond.
I also sent a message directly to Omten, perhaps they’ll respond. They have a ton of 1288-style switches on their website, but the details are scarce. There’s a download button for each, but it’s protected by a login form for which registration has been disabled. :person_facepalming:
Yup, I noticed that too awhile ago!! They have lots of switches, but all the FC ones seem bigger (larger) than the RC we normally get on the flashlights.
So, the one you showed was the closest in terms of dimensions, what would be great to get, specially for smaller flashlights. (Yesterday I was trying to fit one on the Sofirn SF14 and Jaxman E3 but they are too tall, so it doesn’t fit correctly and the retaining ring can’t be put back in place using the taller switches…)
Let’s see if Wuben replies to you :+1:
BTW, I suspect Olight will be also using something alike on their new M1T and I3T flashlights…
I guess I will have to dig deep into these :person_facepalming:
EDIT: It seems that the measurements found in the ebay link are incorrect. Those switches are probably much bigger than the 1288 Omten. Those switches are similar to some that I bought from Simon some time ago. They are HUGE.
Yeah, did that ages ago with my ’501 UV, and just recently with the S2+.
Got blue lighted switches, but it’d kill me to drill out the hole from the metal switch to put in the silicone-boot switch. Probably do it anyway, but I really want (regular)violet LEDs instead of blue.
Reading some of the posts I linked above, despite many possible mistakes in my interpretation, it seems that we should search for “normally open” switches.
While looking at Omten page, this emerges:
