(prototype) the GT Mini

One possible reason could be that the 2 metal surfaces that touch each other inside the switch has some tarnish or oxidation, etcā€¦ that is preventing good contact. Repeated use might wear the contacts back to bare metal again.

Most flashlights use tactile switches meaning you can feel when they are depressed and they pop back up. They usually have a metal dome that requires a certain amount of pressure to bend.

Itā€™s like when you accidentally lean on a car fender and it pops in. You take the pressure off and it pops back to its original shape.

You couldnā€™t do that with my ā€™64 caddy

My switch seems to have fixed itself too. After a lot of switching, and letting the light run really hot a few times it seems to work normally again, fingers crossed. Neal did send a new driver after I requested that for back-up :+1:

Anyone else having any type GT Mini switch problems besides the people I mentioned above??

:+1: ā€¦ Excellent.

Mine arrived yesterday, of course Iā€™m unluckyā€¦
Switch does not always respond to the click

If only I knew how to get that retaining ring off  Is it threaded or is it press fit? I donā€™t want to damage it even more so just let me know what tools should I use to do that

Itā€™s threaded, RH threads. ā€œlefty loosyā€.

Any hint how to do that? The only thing I can think of would be rubber ball for opening watches but unfortunately donā€™t have one lying around.
Soz for probably super basic questions but Iā€™m more of a knive guy, never disassembled any light (but seeing how many people have problems with this particular one Iā€™d prob do better work  )

That suxā€¦ :frowning: ā€¦ Did you get yours from Neal or Banggood?

Itā€™s threaded?? I thought it was a ā€˜press fitā€™.

I got mine from Neal and although the switch works fine, the green LED functions intermittently.

.

:frowning: ā€¦ I added you to the list. :+1:

Do you mean it flickers when it should be steady? Like itā€™s connections are bad?

Keep in mind that itā€™s controlled by the MCU, so it does turn on and off under certain circumstances.

So sorry! I was thinking about the Sofirn 21700 C8ā€¦ which IS threaded!

The BLF GT mini has a pressed in switch retaining ring. Again, sorry about that!

What are those certain circumstances??

When the light is turned off the green locator light should remain lit shouldnā€™t it??

No problem, I was just confused. ā€¦
Youā€™ve forgot more than I knowā€¦ your entitled to a minor ā€˜slip upā€™ now & then. :stuck_out_tongue: ā€¦

Not necessarily. You can ramp it up or down and then turn it off while itā€™s flashing the 1 or 2 blinks and it will turn the side switch off temporarily.

Some people have thought the switch light is supposed to be on all the time regardless of the main light being on or off. I was just making sure illuminos knew that it doesnā€™t stay on all the time. Iā€™m wondering if his side light turns on or off or flickers by itself without him touching the switch.

Okā€¦. but it should stay on when the light is off & the ā€˜special circumstancesā€™ you mentioned or ā€˜voodooā€™ have not been activated or employedā€¦ correct?? .

And if anyone thought it stayed lit whether the light was on or offā€¦ā€¦ :person_facepalming:

Yes. You can also turn the switch light off in the menu. Someone even said their switch light suddenly started staying off and thought it broke, but a factory reset turned it back on. That was an odd case. Iā€™m just waiting to hear what illuminos is doing.

Some people donā€™t know. This was common when the Q8 came out. It still surprises some people who have never seen a video of a Q8 or GT or GT Mini.

I rig up my Narsil lights to keep the side switch lights on all the time. I hope Iā€™m not confusing anybody who watches my videos.
