Well you have a good point. This isn’t a beauty pageant where the contestants tap dance, give a speech about poverty, and then do a comedy skit.
Coast has a few stainless steel flashlights that I love the looks of - purely minimalist design, silky satin finish… very “tech” looking. They have an inspection light that’s pretty reasonable at under $30…
When they come in shocking colors they look to effeminate for my tastes and look like they belong more in a purse than a jeans pocket or tool belt. Then some do look like rare jewels, and are not much more useful than one unless you clip them outside your pocket so everyone can see you can afford one, which drops the coolness factor down a few notches. But I do agree that a flashlight with a body material like the Muyshondt’s, but with a more minimalist design that doesn’t detract from the beauty of the material, would be more my cup of tea.
I can’t help enjoying the looks of my new RRT-01 immmensely, it is at least the bestlooking flashlight that I own, together with the ROT66. The RRT-01 is just too large and heavy for EDC but I still carry it atm
On one side: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And everybody has his/her own set of eyes.
On the other side: form follows function. Which makes the level of “beautiful” sometimes unattainable.
Personally I think CRX did an excellent job on both in the O-L Tribute Light he gave me.
Capture the full beauty of this shiny copper baton is certainly a few bridges too far for me!
