That wavien looks nuts! I wonder what that would do for a GT70!?
Green doesn’t bother me so much I don’t think, this isn’t an often used light, it’s more of a wow factor light. But by that standard I’d want it as cool as possible for the light saber effect. We’ll see what we get!
I want to thank the wonderful leaders of BudgetLightForums for recommending the magnificent Lumintop BLF-GT70 to me. It is very affordable, super high quality, and very well thought out. My 2nd one just cleared Customs and will soon be delivered to me. :+1:
Dedoming does make a noticeable difference with this flashlight, the hotspot decreases in size a bit but I can tell that it does throw farther. There is some tint shift when dedoming the CW xhp70.2, but honestly unless I’m blasting the bushes 50ft from me I can’t see any green and it really does improve the details that you can see at distance. I do notice that there is slightly less of a “barrel” of light coming out with the dedome but since I already own a very high output thrower(X65vn 5000k)I wanted something a little different so losing a few lumens for throw was worth it. Overall this is a really fun flashlight!
Thanks for the info! This is encouraging. As far as less of a barrel of light, you mean less flood nearby? Or less wide beam, but it throws farther?
I wonder if that doesn’t help the apparent throw distance? Because less light spilling out in front of you would make the light reflecting back from a mile away seem brighter by comparison?
The spill light is light directly from the led missing the reflector. So if slicing the dome looses 1000 lumen, then the spill will be 1000 lumen less.
I’m sure he means the hotspot beam angle is narrower. This increases throw distance. The spill angle stays the same.
JasonWW hit the nail on the head, the circular mass of light coming out of the reflector seems to be a smaller diameter but it is very intense along with a good amount of usable spill. Very happy with the dedome but truthfully I was very happy with the dome as well.
