Adhesive should work, but I would not trust the glass to push down equally on all the lenses/mcpcb.
This isnāt the first time Iāve done this Jason. Not even only the tenthā¦ Iāll figure it out, usually do somehow.
The driver, well, speaks for itself I reckonā¦
I have the 2 screws mounted to lock the new head in place, this is the 2 screws that formally went into the reflector so it wouldnāt rotate. Working on getting the central hole drilled for the wires to run up through. I swapped the MOSFET and 7135 chip on the original Q8 driver so all drivers have the same components power wise, the original driver will supply power directly to the SST-40 in the middle via both red and black wires as usual. There are 2 14 ga positive leads that will be shared between two quads, so two of the quad boards per 14 ga positive. Then each Slave driver has an 18 ga Teflon coated lead for the negative. I used 26 ga Teflon wires for the signal leads, green to the MOSFET and orange to the 7135.
Havenāt tested it more than to ensure Anduril is working, so thereās that still to do as wellā¦
Wow-zer!! Nice!!! Appreciate the update with pics. :+1:
See the stack of 16 Samsung 30Qās that came today? Ready for those tubes/carriersā¦
Impressive, VERY IMPRESSIVE!! .
Thanks for sharing Dale.
I like it. I saw the video you posted on the other thread measuring the lumen output.
Itās a beast!! .
I want to see an outdoor video of it.
/\ ā¦ā¦ Me too!!
Iām guessing the beam will look like a souped-up Astrolux MF01.
I used to get really excited to see 12,000 on my meter, then later if it got up to 20,000 I was really impressed! This one? Over 70,000 on the meter! Gonna run out of meter soon at this rate!
Used it tonight walking the trash can the 300 yds down to the road, really like the beam on it, at much much lower than full onslaught mode of course. Very nice even for a general purpose walk, that double click to Turbo is silently lurking in the background, waiting to turn the sun back onā¦ Using it a a decent middle to well lit range for this walk it didnāt even begin to get warm. Pretty sure outside, in the cool of night, with some breeze, it should easily run the cells down without discomfort. At least in present 4 cell configuration.
Pictures or it didnāt happenā¦ā¦ ā¦
Seriously, when you have time; give us a beam shot or two please.
Wow, thank you Daleā¦. very impressive!! .
I just wanted to say that I received my Q8 from Sofirn off of Amazon, and this light is amazing! It lights up across the street which is at least 600ā. I donāt find that the light is too throwy at all, it just seems to light up the entire 4 acre yard. The light is very well made, with quality at least the equal of Olight or Fenix.
I wanāt to give a special thanks to Zoe at Sofirn. Excellent customer service. This wonāt be my last light from them.
Sofirn will appreciate more if you write a review on amazon page.
Is there any possibility that I could still get a discounted price? The last update in the OP, about contacting Sofirn to try to get a discount, was October 11.
Just send Sofirn a message asking about a discount price. It may be Monday before they answer. Actually, I donāt know how long it might take. They may be gone till mid January. All of China is basically closing for the holidays.
Thanks Jason.
