Hum, will these be âgoodâ to the Led4Power LD-A4 (3A) drivers?
I am thinking of modding a light with that driver and single emitter for a good output and âdecentâ runtime! If these cells are good for those Amps, I may get some
Yeah, but at what current. Most 14500 lights now a days draw 2 to 3 amps.
I liked to see a 3 amp test before I replace my Efest 14500âs. Iâm still on the fence about these.
I may have to bite the bullet and order a set to test on the icharger.
The discharge current during the test in the Opus is 500mA.
Iâd like to see a full test by HKJ up to 15A to see how these hold up in voltage and capacity against the purple Efest 14500 cells at high current (the Vapcell test at 3A already shows a lower voltage).
A hint that these still do pretty alright is the following: I checked the current in my direct drive 14500 zoomie with KW CSLNM1-TG led, two dark purple Efest cells and two Vapcell 1000mAh 14500 cells, right next after each other:
Vapcell1 4.68 A
Efest1 5.11 A
Vapcell2 4.78 A
Efest2 5.07 A
So just 7% less current in a 5A flashlight. If the Vapcell 1000mAh 14500 cell can hold up the capacity at this current remains to be seen (the purple Efest does hold its capacity up to 5A, at 7A the capacity starts dropping)
Sure we do
The best is high drain combined with high capacity of course but I understand if that is a trade-off.
The best high current 14500 cell is, as far as I know, the purple Efest 650mAh 14500 battery. The high current is really impressive for a small battery. If you can find a battery with that performance and more than 650mAh capacity, or that capacity and even higher current, that would be fantastic.
I am at your site an have the batteries in my cart. (Vapcell 14500) One thing I am just a bit confused about is: âAre they button top or flat top batteriesâ? Some of the photos look as if they are flat top others show a button. I need button top cells. Thanks.
Thanks Pete7874
I missed that simple choice of flat top/button top option. Alibaba does not seem to have all the kinks worked out with the Paypal system. Wanted to use my Paypal line of credit but was not allowed to be used on Alibaba or at the store. Made me grumpy. Could just have used a credit card but did not wish too.
Agreed! The Efest 14500 is best at handling high current in the lights I have used them in.
I modded a Ultratac A1 using a Mountain Electronics 17mm boost driver running a XHP50.2 and it draws 6.5 amps from the cell.
Any chance yet of having a suitable shipping method to my country, the Philippines?
I know some AliExpress stores that sell batteries, but cannot ship bare batteries to my country.
So what they did was to bundle cheap generic flashlight and put their battery inside those flashlight â based on my experience some time ago.
What I did: I ordered a couple of 26650 from an AliExpress store, I was not expecting it to arrive (will just dispute if it didnât arrive).
Then surprisingly, the battery arrived placed inside âgenericâ flashlight (the flashlight is bad looking, but it worked when I tested it) â so the âgeneric flashlightâ is âfreeâ with the 26650 battery I ordered.
Iâm not sure how to do that with your 14500 battery. Maybe can place them inside some cheap AA/14500 flashlight host, then ship your 14500 battery inside the flashlight host.
What about a powerbank? Itâs just a plastic box with a few connectors. You can put more than 1 battery inside If it is enough to workaround that no shipping rules
So, what are the downsides of this new Vapcell 14500 battery? Faster self discharge? Fewer cycles? Something else?
I mean, this cell offers roughly 25% more capacity than all other cells currently on the market. Why isnât anyone else producing such cells? Whatâs the catch? Or is it just some new technology that just hit the market that wasnât previously available?
Not trying to be skeptical or poke holes. Just trying to understand what allowed for this large capacity increase and if there are any downsides.
There was already the Soshine 900mAh 14500, also fairly new and not high-drain. I have them too and could check them in the same flashlight. HKJ has posted a test a while ago.
I think that the technology of chinese batteries is getting slowly better.
Im waiting for Chinese battery manufacturer to achieve 7000mah for 26650, so there will be a good reason to use 26650 flashlights over 21700mah flashlights. If Chinese manufacturer can make 5000mah now, hopefully we will see 7000mah 26650 very soon.
