why make it out of Ti? doesnt have much purpose besides the cool factor right?
I think it’s harder and lighter but not very good with heat dissipating. won’t be an issue with the C01. But I don’t have money to spend on Ti. Never own one, doubt I ever will.
For titanium, there is the existing option of the McGizmo Sapphire, for the classiest of users.
Granted, the Sapphire driver is the same as the Arc driver, which as I understand it, doesn’t perform quite as well as the E01 driver, and the price is well beyond what I’d expect users to pay for a Sofirn twisty.
But it’s a really nice looking titanium AAA twisty, available with a Yuji, driven at 25mA.
Or if you want a titanium AAA that can tail stand and has a trit slot, maybe enough interest could get Mako to restart a limited run of his AAA, which even has two modes (low and lower).
Got my C01 today. I am really impressed with the overall fit, finish, and ergos of a superbly crafted torch. Kudos to all who made it possible. The tensile springing of the clip is perfect. Didn’t break when flexing and I mean I put the GORILLA twistin’ to it.

Before I got these samples I was concerned by the wide 60 degrees leds but now I like that nice even floody beam, it is really pleasant and nothing like the ugly Fenix E01 beam.
fwiw, the McGizmo Sapphire also offers a 60 degree Yuji.. we are in good company
The E01 beam is not to my liking at all, plus the tint sucks, and it has terrible CRI
the C01 beam is MUCH nicer in every way
I like the wider beam much better myself. I have two of the 5600k’s, and they are fantastic.
I think so too. Makes me want to spark up a fat one and mellow out to some Hendrix and Zeppelin. My 3200’s should land in tomorrows mail. They are a day late based on USPS tracking.
Well, it finally arrived! Yesterday I got my first tracking update since November 23rd (ordered 8th Nov, marked as shipped on the day after) that it had landed in London! I was starting to get worried!
What a brilliant light it is, the build is fantastic; nice smooth threads and the machining is spot on. Mine is probably from the very first batch and the pocket clip is extremely solid (I can barely flex it).
The tint is very nice as you would expect, as others have mentioned it has a slight hotspot but it doesn’t bother me.
I think this light is going to live on my keychain permanently. Now its time to order a trit & magnet…
I ain’t got no news from the tracking of mine.
I’ve sent message to Sofirn (on AliExpress) that asked me to check with my post office! Not gonna happen, they will know nothing about it…
I also asked about the coloured versions and Cissy said

By the two tracking updates at the same time on the same day, I’m not sure if the package is still in China or on it’s way to Miami (USA).
Oh yeah….. mine was actually not accepted by shipping partner until 7 December, 16 days after order was placed. . Funny how that works, since I got a “your order has shipped” email on 12 November… the day after I placed the order.

Just another little update. Others have noted the contacts are quite small, so I decided to flow some solder onto them to add a bit of durability. Seems to have worked well.
Bingo, that’s exactly what I do when they start to show any wear. I usually don’t bother until I see signs that it may wear through the surface, but you are good to go! The one thing that happened to me was I got to a point where I had to tighten the head more or it flickered. The key was the outer contacts on the BODY side. I took my Deoxit pen, which has a fiberglass point that wicks the fluid and ran it around that little ledge inside, and wiped it clean after a couple of minutes. Presto! Light twist, and it comes on solid and reliable. You could use a Q-tip and alcohol, but I think a mild abrasive is better for the aluminum, like a bit of Scotch Bright worked around there on a toothpick, or a little strip of very fine wet/dry paper. Whatever, just clean the oxidation off of the aluminum ledge when the contact gets dodgy.
Great day, my other cool and two warm C01’s landed today! Ordered two days after the first cool one, and came almost 2 1/2 weeks later, so no rhyme or reason to that.
I now have quite a bit of beam variations. The first cool had the slight hotspot most seem to have, due to the “reflector” being engaged, and I rather like it. The second cool has a very well defined hotspot, almost like a real reflector light, starting to get a bit of throw. I thought the LED might be deeper in the head, but it doesn’t seem to be. The reflector surface is a little shinier than the other, but it seems unlikely to make so much difference. My last hunch is that the spread of the beam is a little wider on this particular LED, so it’s putting more light on the reflector surface. Funny how that can work, wider beam from the LED, tighter beam from the light head!
Then my two warm units are about in between, both have a very noticeable hotspot, but not nearly so much as the tight beamed cool one. At the end of the day, I like them all for their individual merits, and the difference in “throw” for the distances that they will be used for really is not significant. My Gerber Infinity Ultra mod has absolutely no hotspot, BTW, and that may be due to it using a 45 degree LED, so no light is hitting the polished reflector (my mod).
Oh, and all clips seem fine, opened them as far as needed to go over a pocket or hat brim and they snapped smartly back. All outer contacts on the PCB go right to the edge of the board, like my first one. So these issues seem to be limited to a pretty small number of lights, at least so far.

I wonder how many solt thusfar. I will ask Barry tomorrow.
website says
368 transactions in last 6 months
it also says the first 300 sold out
that suggests that the second run was 75 3200 and 75 5600 lights, and about half of them have been sold. Im happy to see they are selling in equal quantities, so far.
If so, that leaves about 1500 Yujis to sell.. in Red and Blue
my guess is they will make 150 of each, after new year, and then wait to see when they are gone before making more.
So far, less than half as many lights have sold, than there was interest expressed in this thread.. sounds about normal. My guess is some of us are waiting for the non black versions. IF they had made some red and blue in time for Xmas, they might have sold more. We shall see what happens next year.
Im glad I got one of each Color Temperature, I think they are great, and would like a couple more, a Red 32 and a Blue 56.. then I will give my Blacks away..
I like the 3200 (7 lumens) after my brain is white balanced to my house incandescent (3000k), and in fully dark adapted situations. The 5600 (10 lumens) is nice at other times, when my brain is white balanced to cooler ambient light.
My guess is some of us are waiting for the non black versions.
Yep, that’s what I (and I assume a lot of others) are doing. I’d like my 3200k in red!
I might even buy a third… or a fourth…. Or a fifth… Okay maybe that’s a bit excessive. I really like this light and don’t anticipate many alternatives coming out in the near future
