Looking for a high current 20mm buck driver

Dear all,

Has anyone tested yet how much more current can be applied on this KD P2500 20mm buck driver? 2.8A is a bit low, so I'm wondering how far it can be driven with modding?

The main objective is a 20mm buck driver that can supply up to 8A to run the Osram KW CSLPM1.TG (a.k.a. White Flat 2mm²) with 1 or 2 cells.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

If it’s designed right, not much more. There’s a maximum current that can be pushed through the inductor before it starts saturating. The current will start to spike (ie, not be held back by inductance anymore), and it’ll just quietly cook itself to death without dumping any more current into the output.

If they designed it conservatively, maybe a bit more. But the inductor is most likely the limiting factor.

Oh yeah, that’s the thingy with the big honkin’ “100” on it.

You can’t do buck with only 1 cell to the CSLPM1.
This is the closest you can get at 20mm, 5.5A: 20mm MTN-MAXlp HP 4A-5.5A Low-Profile Buck Driver - 5V-18V
If you do 2mm more you can get 6A: 22mm MTN-MAX 1A-6A Buck Driver - 5V-18V
These drivers can do up to 12A but they are not buck drivers, they only work on 1S: led4power

Lexel is also offering Buck Drivers!

Yes but as far as I've heard these are e-switch drivers, running with NarsilM 1.2 that require a side switch like the Convoy L6. The L2 is a tailclicky only.

I have fitting buck drivers up to 8A for 2S

who is telling this?
I always sold clicky and e-switch drivers
difference is at most a few parts and rest just firmware

Okay, sorry for being wrong about this. Thanks for letting me know, Lexel!
