Medical flashlight 1-2 AAA /AA

MT06MD - 2nd mode is too bright for mouth inspection i.e. klarus - he kicks in on mid mode as far as i remember and mid mode is 70 lumens?
25 lumens of IYP365 could be even 20.

Pozdrawiam Rodaka, słownik telefonu doprowadzi mnie zaraz do łez …

Medical? Do you mean it should survive a pass through an autoclave to sterilize it?

No, IT wont be autoclaved. I mean i AM searching for best tissuse color quality.CRI DOV etc with lower power.

I don’t think you can do better than this light, its already very popular for medics. For maximum CRI and very low light you can use a minimag light with old incandescent bulb.

Massdrop sells Lumintop tools that always start on low mode, @about 3 lumens, medium is about 20 lumens

for medical use, I encourage you to consider a copper Tool, although they are heavier, because copper is naturally germicidal and even kills MRSA.

your IYP is really an excellent light, if you like the 2xaaa size, I think you did the best you can do, regarding the LED from a stock light, particularly because newer models no longer offer the 219b

The Optisolis and E21a LEDs that Clemence offers are in a class way above the Nichia LEDs in the Lumintop Tools.

I strongly recommend the lights Clemence is selling, if the lumen levels meet your needs. The color of the beam, and the fact that it can be diffused evenly without a hotspot glare, makes them absolutely the best, and most exceptional choice you could make, in terms of light spectrum and beam quality.

.

(about money: I agree it is unfortunate that shipping is expensive, maybe you should buy more than one, to reduce the unit shipping cost… LOL… then you sell one to a friend, and become a Hero who brings High CRI Light to illuminate your corner of the world ;-))

Yeah the Lumintop lYP 365 is imho a very good high cri light if you got the nichia219B instead of the newer more greenish tint 219C.

I like the driver in the 365 and am fond of swapping the head off them and putting them on the single AA light .doing this makes the low lower and improves the overall feel of the single AA tool flashlight . I'm guessing your complaint is the fact the light starts on medium instead of on low mode ? People have complained about this forever but I think it's easy to just get used to it . on a clicky light it's simple to make a quick click/tap. if you want med from there just click click .. off /on ..from there tap tap to high . if the driver is really bugging you than there are members here who can swap out drivers for you or you can just buy a driver and diy .

Jon thnak you for your post. Tons of information. I just dont know who Clemence is, forum user? Edit : Virence you mean?

Boaz yeah but when u need to double click all the time its a pain … additionaly i wanted 2nd one for my GF and she wouldnt be Happy. I thought about driver since i have nice solarforce mod from someone and i have some electronic skills tho i lack equipment to solder it precisely.

Clemence tools look amazing but its there anything else ? With shipping cost and taxes they will be super expensive :frowning:

This is the first light to check out, could just be the light you are looking for and it is just $10
(it used to be cheaper but it is still a good price)

Yes, thank you for your reply. It does look good and i checked it. IT would be perfect just it only support 1 mode. So in terms of eye examination it sadly would be more like blindness maker :frowning:

50 lumen is what it does and that can indeed be quite blinding. What is the required output for eye examination? (edit: I see 2-3 lumen in the OP)

Yes low mode in lumintop can be called a bit too bright for me. I need option for Face and flashlight to be close to the patient since i need to check reaction or movement. Holding flashlight half meter away is away from being comfortable.

I’m thinking about waiting for lumintop answer about driver change. It will cost 13$ for me with shipping cost etc. Clarence flashlight will go up to around 60-55$ each. Unless there is such a difference in light that is worth paying for?

I have found regional FL maker and just saw on BLF that he uses hi cri LEDs so maybe he will be able to help.

Than you everyone a lot !

The Klarus P20 has mode memory, so it will come on in low, if you turn it off in low. I verified this last night.

If a 1 lumen low and a medium of either 10 or 25 lumens would work for you, you might look at the Zebralicht SC63c 1AA light.

This light doesn’t have a 2-3 lumen option.

Seems nice, nice modes with configifation. But its in Clemence FL price so i would rather stick with his moded jetstream. Thank you

the IYP low spec I saw is 1.5 lumens (all lumens levels Im talking about are for the High CRI), and Boaz informs it drops if fed with only 1 battery
that suggests that a Tool body with the IYP head would be below 1 lumen
whereas the Tool is 3 lumen

clemences LEDs are far superior, and his diffuse beam is far more appropriate, as a hotspot with spill is not helpful at close range imo. and iirc the Virence/Clemence Jetu has a 0.9 low in Optisolis and 1.2 lumen in E21a

if you buy the optisolis, and youre happy, that cost would be the same as trying a Tool, plus your IYP, if neither works for your low mode needs

the Klarus btw says 4 lumen spec, so if you think the IYP is brighter than you want, the Klarus and Tool will be brighter, hence less to your liking

as far as starting on low first, well… the Virence does that too, but, its a twisty, so now you have yet another feature to weigh

imo, the IYP is the most cost effective solution, and the only thing you seem to want to change actually, is the mode sequence… that simply is not an option, unless you spend more money.

so, I suggest you try to sort your priorities

  1. How Low do you want to go?
  2. Twist or click
  3. 1 battery or 2
  4. Low Price

good luck with your decision, for the price and convenience, I still vote IYP
I dont think a single battery light fits a doctors pocket as well as a 2AAA, and imo, twisty is not ideal for girlfriends

tough choices, I know, you cant always get what you want…

unfortunately there is no perfect light

Wow thank you for such an informative post. You mean Tool head can be changed with iyp? That would be something. I can say that 3 lumens would do the job if i cant find anything else. I think i will try Tool. Thank you!

I do not own IYP, so not sure if Tool head works on IYP body
Boaz says the IYP head does work on the Tool body, hopefully he will inform if the reverse is true, if that is your question

The lego might only work in one direction, if the threaded portion of the IYP head is shorter than the threaded portion of the Tool Head… iow, the pill of the IYP might be set less deep than the pill of the Tool

I know for example that the head of a Worm works on a Tool, but not the reverse…

good luck with your research, Im glad you are following the intricacies of my replies

be careful, cause if you listen to me too much, you are going to end up buying more than just one light… LOL!

Haha, i have already bought few lights and way too much knifes so… I’m trying to be super-carefull! Thank you a lot!

I think i will wait for lumintop, doubt they can change driver but maybe… just checked Tool, it would be cool too but also start from mid :frowning:
