Is anyone able to tell me what size MCPCB and driver this light uses?
I’m keen to try a white flat in it. Having not used a white flat yet, would it be ok with the stock driver in this light or would I need to swap it out with a lower current regulated driver?
Ideally you want a 12x7135 driver with e-switch control and those are not common. The stock direct driver could work fairly well because 14500 batteries show more voltage sag than 18650 batteries.
I did not measure it but it seemed a little smaller then a normal 16mm mcpcb. I think you could sand down a 16mm mcpcb to fit though.
A white flat was donated to me recently. Once I know I am done with the prototype I plan to install one in the GT micro if I can make the mcpcb fit.

Somehow, I hadn’t read about this light until now. It reminds me a lot of the BLF X5. It was cute, and the copper version is pretty, but ever since getting a D1 I haven’t had much use for the X5 or X6.
Anyway, a quick spec comparison of similar lights…

I usually leave the D1 in my purse, soft-locked. It’s small enough I can forget about it until I need it… and it’s not often I need something with more throw. I have it flashed with Anduril, and configured to run in stepped mode with a high enough floor that I often don’t even need to unlock it to take a peek at something in the distance.
Rationally the D1 is the better light, an improved GTmicro with a superior battery, but I really like the shape of the GTmicro, and maybe it helps a bit that it is a bit slimmer and more lightweight.
Well… let’s hope that the GT Micro reflector is better than D1 one
I just got my prototype GT micro in yesterday and I have to say, I like it. A nice little pocket thrower.
The throw ratings they gave are spot on what I got, I got 52kcd and 457m of throw on my sample.
Although the lumens are a bit lower, I got 900 lumens dropping to ~800. They are using VERY thin LED wires right now though and the tailcap springs could be a bit lower resistance.
I told them to use 24awg wire on the LED, that should bump the output up some so it could be rated at 850-900 lumens (technically it could now but that is not how I do things).
The thermals are surprisingly good as well, Took quite some time for it to heat up enough to thermal throttle and by that point the cell was at the point of LVP, so not sure which one it was that caused it to step down but think it might of been the LVP.
I have to say, it looks pretty good for a prototype.
the Emisa D1 is 43000cd & the gt micro is 52000cd ,so in theory the gt micro will throw further?
if that’s true ,then for how long (time) will the gt throw further ? the d1 will run on a 30q @3000mah & the gt run on a high drain 600 mah 14500.
An 18650 will slaughter a 14500, no question. It was never meant to compete with an 18650 based light, the GTmini is for that. This is a smaller version for fun as much as anything.
Although having used it some, I can say it is actually a nice light overall all things considered.
It’s a nice form factor. Small, comfortable, generally sleek. It’s physically pretty similar to a popular Maglite model, and that model was popular for a reason.
Looking back at the X5 though, the #1 request was that people wanted it to use an 18650 cell, to increase power and runtime. The head is wide enough that the wider cell would probably be a nice fit.
On a related note, one of the top feedback items on the D1S (and the GT-Mini) was that it should have maybe used a 21700 cell, for similar reasons.
Yes, I like the idea of 21700 based lights as well, sadly they did not heed my suggestion that the GT mini should be made into a 21700 light.

I really like the Sofrin C8F? that is 21700 based.
+1 on the GT Mini 21700 (and maybe an XHP35 HI as well)
Also +1 on the Sofirn C8F which seems so far to be my all around go to - it has pretty much of everything - enough throw, plenty bright, enough spill, good ramping UI, mechanical forward clicky so no parasite drain.. If only it would've been a single emitter (with the efficacy of the 3 it currently has tho) like a C8/GT Mini and with a more refined beam pattern..
The Swiss Army Knife conundrum, having everything everybody wants all the time… due to the very nature of a flashlight, someone is guaranteed to be disappointed no matter how epic a light is made. Hence, the reason some of us have so many.
