“Ideally more like 8 and 40 though, instead of 3 and 100.”
+1 what TK said.
It’s a small back-up light. The 8 would hopefully be like the C01, with a bump to 40 as reserve without draining the battery.
(I completely missed the “PRO” development.)

We all did for the most part, the “development” was not ‘public’.

The “pro” was already planned before the C01. When I asked Barry/Sofirn if they would make our Yuji 5mm twisty, they were directly interested because a small AAA twisty was already planned by Sofirn, just not one with a low output 5mm led. Still it was pretty awesome that they went for it . So the C01S is the type that they originally wanted to make. I did advice on how they could set it apart from other AAA twisties (especially the cheap and very high quality Olight i3s and i3e), so that is why it has modes and a high CRI SST-20 led. And the Noir-tail of course

I’m a Moonlight guy. 0.2-25-some high number here within reason.

I am in for LH. Buy Low sell high
I think I agree with the fellows, I would prefer 5-10 Low and 50-60 for High. Just my 2 cents.

I was not involved in which modes Sofirn has chosen but the stock 3lm-100lm is perfect for me.

ToyKeeper:
wle:
i have never seen what i want: even log-spaced levels
.3 1 3 10 30 100 300 1000 lumens
with a FAST way to switch them [like half taps go up]
and a way to go back {longer tap}
and no memory
and after 1000 lumens it starts back at .3
the BLF A6 ALMOST does it this way
This is a 1xAAA twisty. It won’t get very bright, and it’s not very easy to “tap” for variable amounts of time like a reverse-clicky button, so it’s probably best to stick to only short and long intervals instead of short/med/long.
About log-spaced levels, that’s one of the options in the ramp calculator, but it’s not the default or recommended setting. Most research suggests a cube-root model instead of log. Here are a few “evenly spaced” ramps, using different curve types:
0.30 / 24.9 / 88.9 / 192 / 335 / 517 / 739 / 1000 lm: Square
0.30 / 8.03 / 37.1 / 102 / 216 / 394 / 651 / 1000 lm: Cube
0.30 / 2.96 / 14.1 / 46.5 / 122 / 272 / 544 / 1000 lm: Fifth
0.30 / 1.66 / 6.95 / 23.9 / 71.1 / 187 / 450 / 1000 lm: Ninth .
what ramp calculator are you talking about?
wle
but that is not what they are offering… it is 100-3… or maybe that is what you mean, you want the modes as is, just LH
maybe you could ask Sofirn to go LH?

or, did you mean youre fine with HL, and are one of the 9% of the votes in favor of HL?

H-L is only usable for keychain light for me.
For EDC-light I prefer L-(M)-H with a sublumen mode.

Why did Sofirn go with H-L instead of L-H with these survey results? (C01S BLF on ali )

AFAIK there were no “surveys” prior to release.

My guess is, the nghts in urban China are never dark enough to appreciate why some of us want low modes.
Shedding light on China’s dark-sky problem
By Zheng Jinran | China Daily | Updated: 2016-10-25
A recent survey suggests that for many people, a glimpse of the Milky Way or other parts of the visible galaxy is no longer possible as a result of the affects of artificial lighting.
The New Global Atlas of Light Pollution, published in the journal Science Advance, shows that 60 percent of people in Europe and almost 80 percent of North American residents are unable to see the Milky Way. More pertinently for China, it also shows that light pollution makes the nebula invisible to people who live in the areas around Beijing and Hong Kong.
Sofirn does not know I started this poll.
I started this poll after the light was already announced.
.
I think it is too late to change the Sofirn C01s driver, this poll was just for my curiosity.

I think that high-low is better for the general public who just wants light when a flashlight is switched on. People may never discover the second mode.
Which makes it just a bit nicer if we manage to arrange a BLF edition with low-high

Sort of off-topic for this thread, I’d like ask about the “stepped ramp” modes in Anduril — which one does it use to calculate the spacing for the n# of levels?

low first, nothing worse then having a small light that starts with a 100mode lumens first… ughh
