Let’s just move forward, anticipating the release of this new light. It has been a long time, and it looks light it may finally be happening, and sooner than later.
I hope whatever has been bad in the past few weeks for you gets better. Bad times come, and they go too.
I thought it was pretty close 8 months ago… and 5 months ago… and 2 months ago. It looks like it’s pretty close now, but I really can’t say for sure. I just hope things get straightened out soon so we can all get a shiny new thing and move on.
It also occurs to me I should probably sign up for some extras so I can gift them. I never got around to doing that, and if it turns out how I’m hoping, I’ll want to send them to a bunch of people.
Funny thing, this group buy has been going on so long, one day about 6 months ago after reading updates I pondered whether I had ever signed up.
Turns out I am number 7 & 8 on the list and number 1 & 2 is long gone so I guess we’re at the front of the bus
Flashlight looks good in form and hopefully will be worth the wait.
Thanks to all who have hung in there with development.
Later,
People keep asking about that, so I should set something up. I looked around at the various tools available, and two seem worth trying: Patreon and Ko-fi.
Patreon is the most popular, and it works using a subscription model. This generally works out best for the creator, as it makes things regular and mostly predictable. Patreon also works out any payment issues without the creator having to be involved. However, not everyone wants to do recurring donations. And Patreon heavily emphasizes exclusive subscriber-only content or services, but I’m trying to make sure things are available to everyone. It’s a somewhat awkward fit, but probably still worth trying.
Ko-fi (“coffee”) is more focused on one-time donations, like a tip jar. It also offers recurring donations for creators who pay a monthly fee. It’s far less popular than Patreon, but it seems like a better fit overall. The main drawback is it doesn’t have any form of chargeback protection, so fake donations are a risk. People have been known to do that on purpose just to hurt someone.
So… maybe I should make an account on one or both?
