Well if this link works I put a Armytek clip and a extra strong magnet on mine. It did good for it’s first day on the job.

Wow! Ughh Did the box have the “Quality Control” inspection sticker attached? Is it inspector 12? Hope you get your problem sorted out!

Just a bit too small for me to make out any details. Can you get them up to 800 or a 1000 res?

Looks great though with no bezel! How did you get it out?   (smile - only kidding...)

The box does have the QC sticker on it. I’m PMing with Fireflies now. Hopefully this is easily resolved.

You can see there is no glue residue on the bezel ring. Fireflies is taking care of the problem for me and was very quick to respond to my issue.

Ohhh, this is a smart AUX LED board. I see quite a few SMD's there. Interesting it's mounted up from the MCPCB.

Thanx for the better view!

EDIT: Ohhh, got my PL47! Very impressed! I love the aux lighting in the head, very much like the pics so I knew I'd like it. Wow, it is really compact for a 21700 light. Amazing the driver is packer up there so tight to the switch. So far it all looks good - dunno enough about Anduril to give it a full workout yet, but am learning.

I can report there's no test cell in there, the lens and bezel are in tact, not DOA, all LED's working, like the brightness of the blue aux LED's in the head - not too bright, not too dim. Mine is the SST-20 4000K, 95+ CRI model and the beam tint is a beauty - nice consistent milky white, decent hot spot so should get some throw.

Only minor issues:

  • the champagne finish is a slightly different color on the tube vs. the head and tail. Head and tail are the same. This is a very minor issue for me.
  • the lettering could be better, or maybe show better - could be the champagne finish, dunno. Again very minor issue.
  • the included head strap is not gonna work out so well. The light freely moved around in it so impossible to adjust the head angle. I'm sure I can find a better headstrap that fits - think someone mentioned one earlier.

It's a keeper for me, though I do eventually want access to the LED's and driver for re-programming. Want to at least update Anduril and might do some tweaks. I'll post anything I find on getting it open, hope others do as well.

Look at the lower right lens…Good that there’s “quality control”… Angry

Also, it looks like there are 3 out of 4 legs broken?

I thought I posted this reply on my phone earlier but must have goofed it.

…anyway, the artifacts in the optics are identical on all the PL47s I’ve seen pictures of and it seems to be due to whatever mold was used for them. Doesn’t seem to affect beam profile at all. I know that a couple other guys running flashlight brands in China said TIRs are expensive and/or hard to come by so I think FF had to take whatever they could get.

I finally manage to remove bezel of my defective PL47. Now I can confirm it has sst-20 LEDs instead of nichia that I ordered. At least Jacky send me new one.
Three of the four optic’s legs are broken, two are exactly above mcpcb screws and the third one is above wires hole. The mcpcb has a hole the center, which is unused.

Tom, someone said that if you put the pocket clip on the light and hook it over one of the headbands legs it works really good to control the light’s angle. Simply twist the light in the pocket clip to adjust angle. Wink

I didn’t try it on the one I got for my Son-in-Law, I simply swapped the head band with branded one that worked better before I gave it to Gage for Christmas. He loves it by the way…

Ooops - I read about the clip with the headband thing a while back - my post above was pretty old. I'm keeping the clip on now all the time. Actually if you want to effectively tailstand the light to point the beam up, it balances well on the clip, so another good use for it.

Printed a much nicer headband mount.

Original model for armytek wizard or similar

Edited for PL47 (works with clip installed. Hole for top band a little bit too narrow.)

Received my PL47 yesterday. Getting familiar now, but the headband is kinda joke. Not only the flashlight doesn’t fit the holder, also straps fall off the plastic holder.

Anybody can share a link to right headband? Not sure if the one from Skilhunt h03 would work…

How could you tell? Did you google image both and compare?

They’re pretty different looking LED’s. See here

Can someone please remind me of the size of the copper washer needed to help with better battery contact? Thanks in advance!

I think we had the same batch. Also had PL47 with strong magnet on tailcap. But another PL47 with black tailcap had an extremely weak magnet (too weak).

Very unlucky with my PL47s.
Here’s a short story, tried to write it totally neutral.
My first PL47 with SST-20 4000K paid on Dec2018: 3 out of 4 led’s were working. Glad that I have received replacement head after 1,5month. Summing up the awaiting time I could start using after 3 months since purchase.
The replaced head worked fine. For a week. When I activated turbo I saw after a minute clear light power drop. I thought temperature management worked. But not. One of LEDs stopped working.
Again I was left with 3 out of 4 LEDs working. I wrote to Neal. And until today: zero reposponse.
The funny thing is meanwhile I had won a GAW from tatasal, so I also have a third piece of PL47 with XP-L HI 6500K. But I’m kinda fed up with this light, so it lies deep in my drawer (PM me if you’re interested).
I’m wondering what’s wrong with these lights. Is it messed temperature management or these SST-20 have some deffect? That’s a real pity because I find the light very interesting and useful. Well… waiting for another 21700 fancy headlight, hopefully with better QA management.

You really got unlucky.

Mine worked fine since the day it arrived in every situation I could throw at it.

The awful switch boot was the failure point on mine. It started ripping apart from light use so I smashed the lens and salvaged the 219Bs at least. I got luckier with mine than many people here on BLF though, even having been in the first batch.
