Less throw, because it’s using an XP-L HI over the VG10 21700’s XP-L HD.
However, if you were to replace the LED with an XP-L HI or an SST-20, you’d be gaining some throw over the M2, and get about the same throw compared to the M1.
The design is done very well
Anodizing is super thick.
Body tube is extremely thick.
Heatsinking is done very well, since the body tube is connected to the main head. Very smart idea IMO.
Forward clicky switch.
Gold plated BeCu springs. That means springs are no problem, and can make my life easier as a modder.
Confirmed XP-L HD 3D 4800k, so beam is quite nice and balanced.
Good AR coated lens.
Brass retaining rings with soldered copper ring on the positive side.
Overall, a huge upgrade compared to the VG10.
It’s honestly a superb light. No flaws in the anodizing like some previous Amutorch lights.
So, I saw a mid head version, what is the led in that? Does the deal apply to that one too? If so, I want that head as well. I’d love to have a tube with three heads.
So, got a message back from Amutorch asking many questions
Hello Blue
Thanks for asking a question about the light head compatibility.
As you have noticed, the heads can be exchanged together, so TC500, VG10 21700 and XP-L HI VG10 upgrade can exchange heads.
Also, yes, we use beryllium copper alloy gold plated springs as you asked. No compromise to performance.
Reverse switch can be used, but current capability is not the same currently. We saw on BLF about new BLF light by Lumintop and MOSFET electronic switch, and we like it, but it is not our plans. Maybe in future.
For last question, LH351D 90CRI is a new LED, but it is good and cheaper than XP-L HD, so would be good choice for the future.
Have a good day.
That wasn’t the answer I was expecting, but still very nice.
