Ok, checked the test C01S head at 1A, and that did improve the tint but it did not go under the BBL yet: duv +0.022, CRI 96.9, R9 87.
So as I see it these leds are nice enough but they are still not “holy grail” leds.
Edit: cranking up the current (ignoring the heat building up in that small head ), the tint lands on the BBL at 1.8A, but the CRI and R9 are slightly lower then.
There will be another batch low-high, and maybe Sofirn decides for low-high for all future batches (as often, the wording I received was not unambiguous)
I am eagerly waiting to see what kind of anodization the new batch will have. Low-high is the only kind I’ll buy. I remember seeing a poll either here or over on CPF where low-high was generally preferred over high-low by a landslide. I don’t really understand having a light like this start in high.
I ordered the Sofirn BLF C01S (low-high) driver, but ordered with another Sofirn flashlight. Unfortunately, the package arrived only with the other Sofirn flashlight, but was missing the BLF C01S. And when I reported to Sofirn AliExpress, they can only do a refund. I said I wanted the BLF C01S (low-high driver) but they said there’s none already…
I remember Sofirn said that when they run out of stock on aliexpress they will produce the BLF extra versions. They used to have about 1,000 in stock. Now its about 75. We must be very close!!
