Fireflies PL47 Flashlight

You really got unlucky.

Mine worked fine since the day it arrived in every situation I could throw at it.

The awful switch boot was the failure point on mine. It started ripping apart from light use so I smashed the lens and salvaged the 219Bs at least. I got luckier with mine than many people here on BLF though, even having been in the first batch.

I love mine, 0 issues so far. I got a great deals from neals

Bought 2 directly from Jack at ff. Both are 219B. Rarely use turbo and even then a few seconds at most. It is my “go to” headlamp with a JetBeam headband. Have used it almost every day since it came out. Just drains 21700’s faster than I first expected. Also I use copper washer in tail. Don’t have to tighten down hard anymore. Batteries were Samsung 50E but switched to LG M50 INR 21700 5000mAh/7.3A Flat Tops. Only problem is I can not charge them in my Xtar Dragon VP4 Plus due to recessed + terminal. Charge fine in Xtar VP1…go figure!

May I ask for a picture of the copper washer you used? My 2pcs Lii-40A 21700 are already dented due to being used in the PL47 (I rotate using the 2pcs Lii-40A)…

I’d like to place a washer too on my PL47…

I got the 2 mm version of this size. That product is out of stock. If I ordered again, would probably get this one (1.5 mm) since part of the tail o-ring is exposed. Others earlier commented that a 1 mm thick would work, but I never tried those.

24 x 16 x 1.5 copper washers

Send a PM to FireFlies (OP), they will probably send you replacement parts.

Doh! :person_facepalming: Good call, got to be the best first option; why do we sometimes fail to look for the simplest answer

Anyone able to make a copy of the user manual that came with the PL47?

Just saw FF is making Generation 2. Basically just addressing the major issues of the first gen.

From their webpage

PL47 Generation II is coming at the end of August !!!

Main Improvements:

1. Optimize the inner structure design . All potential QC assembling issues 100% solved .

2. Round all the sharp edges. Improve machining quality by a lot

3. Come with 2 tailcaps . One without magnet. One with strong magnet ;

I hope they improve the switch and boot design too, it was a big letdown compared to Emisar lights.

I’m up for a Gen II. Sounds like some nice improvements. Me and my apprentice use ours daily (plumbing hvac) and I was hoping I could obtain another 219b in the future. Looks like it will happen.

I would like to get a strong magnet tailcap for my PL47 Gen 1. Will the Gen 2 tailcap will fit Gen 1?

Sorry but this is the best I can do without a scanner :

Had a screw up tonight. Dropped my light while taking it off my head and it landed bezel down on the linoleum floor in my mud room. I picked it up to this,

Anyone ever replace the glass on their PL47 before? Recommendations?

And that’s why I will never buy press fit bezel torches from crapy manufacturers…

I can’t help you source a new lens but hopefully someone else here knows the dimensions and a source for replacements, also don’t know how easy/reliable reinstalling the press fit bezel ring will be.

However, I did open my Gen 1 up for the 219Bs when the swtich died, so:
1 - Carefully shatter the lens (You’re already a step ahead of me!!! )

2 - Use a small pliers, tweezers, etc. to pull out any pieces you can. Something small to pry/lever them out may work too, but this could scratch the optic underneath if you care about that.

3 - Wedge a small screwdriver or knife under the bezel ring where the lens was and lever it upwards slowly, working around the circumference of the ring. Don’t try to pop it all the way up in any single spot all at once, just a little at a time prevents it from being wedged into place on the opposite side.

Voila!

Thanks for the info. However, fireflies has sent me a replacement head free of charge. I didn’t even ask him to. He insisted. That’s some good CS imo.

Then we shall aplause him for such care and generous intention…Firelies best!

Wow! Kudos to fireflies! :+1:
