How many of you ever heard of Danny Gatton? Perhaps the best unknown guitarist to ever play. When I say unknown, every serious guitarist in just about every genre, knew who he was, but the general public never heard of him.
A few days ago Bonham sent me a PM to see if I was OK, because I haven’t been on the forum for ages.
That was very kind and thoughtful of him.
I am fine, and just realized that it has been a while since I had a look-in.
I reached a stage where I had bought enough flashlights, so didn’t spend all my time looking for advice and bargains on the forum, like I used to. I also had a few other things going on which kept me busy.
However, I do enjoy this thread, and posts about my favorite musos by guys like Bonham, RobertB and atbglenn to name a few.
So here I am…and as Steely Dan said “Back Jack, do it again”
I saw Australian band, Men at Work live in Sydney in 1983.
Many years later they were sued for copying the flute riff in “Down under” from a children’s song.
This had a devastating effect on them, and many say it caused the early death of flute player, Greg Ham
Thanks Robowski for this info…! I hadn’t heard this story before. Found a comparison with children’s song:
Still, I’d never heard this nice song if Men at Work had not performed it.
