Would it be possible to slap an osram 1mm2 led in the ft03 for vastly more throw? how difficult would it be?
I’m sorry for posting such a noob question but im really interested in turning the FT03 into the ultimate budget thrower.
Afraid thats gonna be well outside my budget. not sure what you want for it. but i think i might just wait for the emisar D1Sv2, which will have 500kcd according to Hank
The problem with white flat in an FT03 is the odd centering ring setup. ZozzV6 knows what he’s doing and has lots of experience, not saying you can’t do it but it’s gonna be a challenge for a new modder to get it centered well.
I used MF02 XHP35 MCPCB and reflowed the Osram on that. On the driver I removed the fet and used the fet PWM channel to add a PCB with 12x 7135s (Cutted a convoy driver in half ) and control it with fet PWM.
So in turbo it using the first channel 7135 also so 13x7135 in total. Which means 4.55A max current.
Man! great job dude, i think i might just wait for the Emisar D1Sv2 for all that bother though.i might start with something a bit easier as my first mod, recommendations? i hear the C8(+) is a great light to mod. any interesting mods you can do with that light?
Buy a host only. Led4power 6A driver and osram led on MCPCB from led4power.com. Set the driver max current in config to 5A. And you can buy osram centering ring from Convoy Aliexpress shop and that way it is not so hard to do it. And you got around 200 kcd.
Not the correct size one for an FT03 but if you’re only running it at 5A-ish max i don’t see why a 20mm MCPCB wouldn’t be able to cope with the heat transfer. It would be a bit harder to centre and you’d have to be a bit creative in mating it to the shelf though.
EDIT: Just realised the PM1 is the 2mm LED so you’d be running more than 5A, i believe a 20mm MCPCB would still work but i haven’t done it myself. I have been keeping an eye out for a cheap enough FT03 to do exactly that though.
I was going to use the original driver as the culpm1 can handle it. Tried a 20mm but the centering gasket rests over the wires so that’s no good. I might flick Maxtoch a message
