Yes, Simon said he planned to order at least a batch of copper pills for aluminum hosts/flashlights, i.e. pills with standard threading. Theoretically, they were to be available before last Christmas. But @#$%.
I also wonder what good reason is behind the different threading of the 2nd generation copper flashlights and hosts. There was a run of copper pills crafted, and many were sold before lads and lasses noticed the different threading. The thing cost Simon money, and since the pills are only for the newer copper S2+ flashlights/hosts, the remaining stock is a hard sell. Nothing is random, you know.
I wonder if the remaining “newer threading” pills could be reworked/converted to standard threading easily. The newer threading is square or sort of, while the standard threading is either unified, american national or isometric (I think, don't really know):
Are the 5000mA “SST40” drivers regulated? I tried looking up the components but no luck. Just need to know if these are linear or FET.

Okay. Found the components. Alpha and Omega Semiconductors AON7220. It’s an N-channel FET designed for high switching frequencies and reasonably low Rds(on). I suppose there could still be a feedback loop on the driver somewhere that regulates PWM to keep current in check? But does the LED still effectively see ‘direct drive’ currents?
I want to use one of these to run a CSLNM1.TG in due to its low profile, single sided construction.
My guess is the pitch of the thread cut in the copper pill and threads per inch are different than the previous version of the copper S2+ and the aluminum versions.I think that alone will make a rework extremely difficult or impossible even if the OD of the pill is the same.
This is going into a Convoy M2 (SMO) and I’m hoping to hit 100kcd. Mathematically possible, but either way it’ll be the nicest 18650 pocket thrower around IMO. I think P60/M2 dimensions demarcate the largest comfortable-to-pocket size. I’m just starting to use lanyards and am starting to warm up to them, but I sure wish in 2020, high quality, deep carry, low profile pocket clips become available. The bolt on design Simon sells would be just fine if the metal was thicker, stronger, and edges more rounded. I would buy a dozen easily.
I had this build ready ≈8 months ago. Uses the weird “8 A” SST-40 linear driver, for which I replaced its stock R005 with a R010 + R050 + R200 stack, and it gave me 4.75 - 4.8 A effective. Had to file a standard “XP” gasket. I could measure a hair above 100 Kcd soon after switch on, and a lil bit below 100 Kcd (97 - 98 Kcd) at 30 seconds, if I recall right. With my smartphone, that is a take it with a grain of salt, although the numbers tally.

Nice Barkuti! I just recently hopped onto the Osram bandwagon since there are slightly lower CCTs available from KD. Still have a hard time with low CRI cw emitters, but for a few specific applications, they are awesome! How well did the M1 reflector behave with the NM1?
Yep, they look sort of “black and white” or achromatic versus proper light sources. I wouldn't call them awesome for this reason. They “blow up” the light meter figures, but who cares if you don't like it.
How did the reflector behave? If you're asking about rings or other artifacts, found none as far as I know.
Square, yes I know. Does the pitch equals that of the standard? Not sure, never measured a brass pill but 10 mm (1.25 mm pitch times 8 steps) seems a bit short to my eye. Maybe Simon should order a pill threading conversion, then sell his stock?

Hodor, I think the answer is yes, but not exactly. The reason for “not exactly” is the S12 uses that SST-40 driver in ∅22 mm format, which comes tuned for up to 6 A.
You can play with sense resistors to change the max preferred current though, i added an R050 on the existing R010 which theoretically makes it 7,2 A as Barkuti earlier discussed in THIS thread
