AdBlock+ changed since early May. The “Block element” feature is one shot. There is no ‘undo’ as before.
So if I mistakenly block something, the hoops and loops that I must take (Chrome version 49.0.2623.112):
From the Custom / Control dropdown (upper right 3 red bars) -> More tools -> Developer tools -> More (>>) from header -> Adblock Plus and refresh the page (else nothing shows up)
And from there I navigate to the filter, remove, and then refresh the page. They are in red and have the ‘user defined’ attachment in the listing. Sometimes I’ll need to do this too many times as I have blocked several overlapping elements. So I remove the whole of my filters and re-start from scratch, hoping to remember where I did screw up.
Could you elaborate on those filters? Are they the domain call or do they contain the appropriate code to block these annoyances?
Was using Ublock origin for a while but then things got strange on some sites and couldn’t place in cart or would just freeze the page. I had to disable but I did like the customization.
And yes, those pop-ups are annoying! Sofirn now uses them on their webstore too.
It’s driving me nuts! I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in what “Brad from Dallas-Fort Worth” has just purchased, although I wish him well with his new stuff.
I was just pondering on how annoying it is when this thread appeared.
I also wish the little Chinese fella from Banggood wouldn’t keep following me around everywhere until I clear the cookies.
I have just sent an enquiry, but I’m not a customer yet.
I suspect that pre-purchase enquiries are dealt with somewhat differently from post-purchase ones.
Nonetheless, I’ll take note of what you said and search the forum for other comments on the company. I hate being “in the dark” (no pun intended) after I’ve ordered something.
Neal quickly responded to an inquiry I sent over two months ago and offered a choice of unadvertised lights he had in stock. I responded asking for more details but made it fairly clear a purchase would be forthcoming. I’m still waiting on a response. I’m also nearly a month into waiting for a response from Jack from Fireflies regarding a purchase and is growing very old.
Sadly, the pop ups on Neal’s site has largely made it unusable imo. I certainly don’t blame him for trying a little additional advertising, but if I wanted to play what is effectively a video game, I’d simply play an actual video game.
When I manually block an element on a site, that’s what populates in the filters section - two of the facebook ones are probably superfluous, but hey, it’s working fine for me If you get Ublock Origin, just copy and paste that bit into your My Filters bit (would take screenshots but not on computer at the moment) and Apply, I think, and no more I should take a quick screendump on how to get it happening.
Thanks! Basically about the same as Adblock+
I tried using the “zapper” on those pop ups (Neals Gadgets) and had to “zap” 5 elements.
They should return after a page refresh, but they don’t? There is no note of such in the “my filters list” as according to their wiki, is a provisional ‘zapper’.
This may be too complicated.
I’ll stick with AdBlock for now.
I felt a little bit uncomfortable ordering and paying someone far away who I have never met and don’t know. But this forum gave me the confidence to do it anyway. hope I will not be disappointed.
All in all it should be fine ! I’ve ordered a lot from neal before the whole pandemic thing and all the packages have arrived some earlier than expected same later but in the end it all arrived.
