Just an update, this is the result of the discharge..of the red Sanyo cells.
call those keepers, no?
Yes, I think they seem to be pretty good..like New. So I'll keep them.
those perked up really nice chibiM, you have yourself some keepers.
Thread updated with a new table that will be updated with new posts. Thanks chibiM for the idea.
Thanks Downlinx for doing that.
I know it can be time consuming once everyone is pouring down their data in this thread ;)
anyway, I ordered another pack (same as last time).
and today I bought a Dell pack (they said it was new, but voltage was very very very low) now charging
very very very low? My NOS Sony 2200 were at 2.xxxx volts but charge with capacity very near rating.
Yes, below 1v.
They quickly climbed and after some minutes they were above 3v
Almost finished charging.
Tomorrow I will do a discharge and check capacity, and keep an eye on them.
The price for these are good and they’re listed as genuine and new. Only thing that concerns me is they’re for a model which is very dated now. It’s for an Acer TravelMate 3200 which is from 2004. So these batteries are at beast from around 2005/6? That would make them pretty old. What do you guys think?

9 Sanyo 2400mah? , I think the 8 Samsung 2800mahs are a better deal.
I’ve pulled out packs from laptops released in ’06 and they still show 90%, so I wouldn’t worry too much about age.
Yeh that’s probably the case. I was going to go pickup but realised Kingswood is about 8 days walk from my place.
Were the 2800’s local or internet buy?
Cheers
Australian seller unfortunately. I assure you the US has 100x better laptop deals. You’re not missing out.
I got another pack as my first one, and the same batteries were inside, about the same capacity as well.
The other pack, DELL had about 2000 in them. They were sanyo green tops, called ...xx18650x........I forgot the name.
From Dchomak’s post Here with his permission i posted in this thread and also updated the list.
This is my biggest find yet. A 40V Ryobi power tool pack.
This pack looks brand new, and it could very well be. I find lots of new packs in the bins that are probably placed there because they sat on a shelf too long and self discharged to a point that a charger would not “see” them. Another reason could be that it contained a defective cell, or maybe a defect in the protection circuit built into each one of them.
This battery has a charge indicator built into it.
Pressing the test button will indicate the state of the charge.
In this case, the pack is half full!
I wonder what kind of cells are inside? Some of you may have already noticed the sticker in the first pic and have done the math.
Boy, this thing sure does look brand new!
4 screws and the top comes right off
There they are, Samsung IMR 18650s, but what capacity and how many?
Turns out they are 13Qs, (1300 mAh)
Count them if you can, there are 20!
I don’t know what to do with this pack. Normally I would check it out and perhaps put it into service. If that was not possible I would harvest the cells that are good. In this case I have no way to test the pack. It could be that it will not accept a charge or it could be that it will not output to a tool. As I neither have the charger or the tool, I can’t test it. The cells are good, that I know, but it would be a shame to destroy a good pack just to harvest the cells. So for now I will just put it aside.
It just happens that I do own a 24V version of this line, but that doesn’t do me any good here. That pack contains the same cells, only there are 12 of them in the pack instead of 20.
BTW, here is another example of this 40V pack torn down by someone else and they opened it up to find
10LG LGDAHB21865s. 10 - 21865s not 20 - 18650s. Go figure.-
Just pulled appart a Fujitsu Siemens pack BTP-C1K8 , 11.1v 4400 mAh
It came from a defect lapop, probably main board defect. (wouldn’t turn on)
it contains 6 cells, Sanyo UR18650FJ, they are 2200mAh
The sanyo labeling is very difficult to see at first, the clearly printed info on the cells lead to nothing
All 6 read 3.8v after separating.
Kept 4 out of 6, 2 of them were dented on the side and bottom.
Have them in the Nitcore charger now
This was a new, never been used pack that I was able to tear open with my bare hands. Either I’m turning into a monster or this was an exceptionally easy pack to open.
All 6 Samsung 26D cells were sitting at 2.9V and are charging now. I have no reason to think that they won’t charge up to just slightly lower than their rated capacity of 2600 mAh.
I love the dell pc764 packs, almost always produce good 2600 or 2550 cells. I will get both of your pulls on the list. Thanks guys.
Last week I got a Dell battery back (here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WDRXL4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
It had six light-blue/green colored cells in it, no brand name on the wrapper - just a bunch of numbers. Look similar to the LG's in #2 in the OP.
All six tested to 3.88-3.89 volts on my multimeter. I have no means of testing capacity at the moment. I figure the cells have to be pretty new to test with that high of a voltage right?

That is a pack for a Dell not a Dell branded pack. The cells inside could be of lesser quality. I must say the price is right if it is to be used to replace an old worn out pack. There is no sense in spending $100+ for an original replacement for an old laptop that is on it’s way out anyway. It is probably not a good idea to buy these to harvest the cells, for that any NOS (new, old stock) genuine laptop pack from any of the major manufacturers would be better. They can be had for about the same price and will contain name brand quality cells.
