Greetings,
This review will be dedicated to newest member of the Baton family, the S2.

What’s special about this light?+*
1. TIR optics. The light distribution is really nice, very appropriate for EDC light. A huge hotspot with a lot of spill that very gradually fades into darkness.
2. Size. The flashlight is very compact, in length it is even shorter than the already compact S20.
3. The known “goodies” from the Baton series. Meaning: strong magnet inside the tailcap, SS bezel, a proper moonlight mode and timer function, that came from S1.
4. Price. The manufacturer recommended price is 49.95$. That’s not too much to ask for an almost ideal EDC light backed by 5 year warranty.
Let’s start?
The flashlight comes in a really small partially translucent plastic box.
There are not much bundled accessories. The flashlight comes with user manual, lanyard and an adapter for using two RCR123A batteries (to avoid rattle).
Here it is. The design is simple, without looking at the label you know it’s an Olight. The size is really nice, I think that owner of this light won’t switch to using AA lights - the size is just right.
A flat tailcap with built in magnet. Of course that with such tailcap the light can be easily used in candle mode.
The negative contact (the cells go with negative contact first, unlike most other lights) has a spring, just like the positive.
The threads are square-cut, and anodized.
Comparison with Zebralight SC600W mkII. As you can see (and it’s also backed by the specs) the lights have the same length. Zebra feels much “beefier” in comparison.
Both lights are a pleasure to use. Olight’s button has a much more pronounced click feel.
The flashlight is really easy to use, the user manual is not a must, but …
1. There is mode memory, that does not work for turbo, moonlight and strobe mode. A short click will turn the flashlight on and off.
2. Holding a button for longer than one second will turn the flashlight on in moonlight mode. Afterwards each press and hold will switch modes in the following order : low~~mid>highturbo~~>low-> …
3. Double clocking the button from OFF mode will turn the flashlight on in turbo mode. Double clicking from ON will toggle the various timer settings. Tripple click from any mode will enable strobe mode.
4. After two minutes in turbo mode (950 lumen) the brightness will fall to 500 lumen. You can instantly re-activate turbo mode.

Let’s see it in action+*
A short comparison with ZL . The tints are much exaggerated, Olight is not that blue, as Zebra is not that Orange. I included this picture for you to notice the hotspot size. It’s simply huge on Olight…
A lot of light, it’s all near you. It is not a thrower, but this is what you usually need for real life scenarios. I think it could also be used as a bike light.
Some numbers (CD in a meter’s distance)
No surprises here. Not a thrower, as expected.

Final words, conclusion+*
Well, a really nice light, almost perfect in many ways. I am sure it will be a hit just like S1.
I’d like to thank *Olight *for providing me the review sample.
