What did you mod today?

Just my terrible photography mate.

TBF tint balancing feature. I like it. Maybe make a bezel cover with single hole so you could rotate it to select you desired tint

Pure genius

I made a butter knife into a steak knife in four minutes to demonstrate the effectiveness of my Ken Onion Worksharp .

Have I mentioned how much I like this tool ?

:face_with_monocle:

Kinda forlorn here since I don’t have the time to do any modding, as we are moving to a new home, and all my parts and tools are put away.

I just replaced the reflector on my original first-ever high-power LED flashlight purchased, an original UltraFire 501b, with an EZ-900 XR-E R2 emitter. I swapped the P60 OP reflector with a spare SMO I had handy. I had forgotten what kind of beam this light would make in this configuration. It was slightly ringy, but not as bad as I had expected. Now, it has a very intense and rather well-defined hotspot, making it a surprisingly good thrower. I may eventually add a fourth 7135 to the driver, pushing it just a little bit harder… :crown:

I put an xpg2 into a DST with a 2S, 5A buck driver, finally. Just need to bypass the tail spring to wrap it up. Also prepped a Jacob A60 to receive a dedomed xpg2 because I may have fried the previous one… whoops. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish people would quit bringing up DST’s. :frowning: Unless they have one to sell , lol

How much cash do you have? :face_with_monocle:

I have one that I offered to sell a while ago, and still might sell. The biggest issue is the shipping will add $10-15 probably. (and I did a few “mods” to it and made it a little ugly  ) lol

Haha, it has to come to that! I just kick myself for not realizing the potential of those lights. I know I’ll come across one at a garage sale, some day.

Those at pads look like they could be fun. Nice build!

Removed a rubber grip sleeve from a budget light and applied it to my new Zebralight SC63w.

The SC63w is a nice light. Very bright for an unmodded light of its size. Unfortunately, it completely lacks knurling and squirts out of the hand like a greased pig. Grip sleeve doesn’t look pretty, but it solves the problem.

Zebralight SC63w, now with added grip sleeve.

looks like it came off the handle of a BOSS1

How about a beamshot?

NOT flashlight related: This RC car has a motor with a plastic pinion (the gear tooth that attaches to the shaft of the motor) . The pinion started slipping after a while and eventually slipped all the time so the car sucked. Grrrr. Crazy glue worked for a couple charges but not more. I also have a V911 helicopter which I bought two spare, main rotor motors for. The V911 motor is about 1 1/2 times the size of the car motor, but, it has a metal pinion, so I thought it best to risk destroying the car than to wait a couple months for a new car motor that will likely give the same trouble again… So, I cut off bits and pieces of the motor compartment and eventually shoo glued in the new motor! It works and is more powerful than before!! (buuut, the motor isn’t placed perfectly right so there is a little more friction than should be. I’ll see what a heat gun will accomplish later  ) Sorry, no pics yet.

today I stacked some chips for the ready. Removed 2 7135’s from Convoy S2+.
Installed Qlite into S3 for Heather. Going to work on my second grip ring for C8

Finished my first mod. Put in a RGB emmitter and controller from Mountain Electronics in a MECO Cree T6. Now I have requests for four more from friends. Who knew. Thank you to the forum for the G700 tip off that started me down the road of modding flashlights.

Popped in a dedomed xpg2 with a BLF a6 driver into a Jacob A60. I’m getting about 80kcd so I’m probably seeing a lot of resistance from the unbypassed tailcap spring (the retaining ring was unreliably threaded and basically jammed in there when I got it) and maybe some other reasons.

Anyway, it has a fantastic beam profile now (not all ringy like a stock a60), with an okay tint. So I’m happy.

Also made a spacer/partial dummy cell out of copper and dowel rod for my DST so I can use unprotected 30Q’s.

a real basic one put a xpl=hi and blf driver into roxane m6 26650
only draws 5.5a at the tailcap awesome throw type beam
might revist with bypasses and heavier wire see if I can crank another amp ?

Welcome to BLF, Christopher! that sounds like a great mod that you did

And it is good to hear that the ongoing G700 flashlight discussion on BLF makes Google direct people to here so they stop buying that overpriced crap. So here’s one for the search engine:

the G700 flashlight is a ripp off, overpriced crap!
