Does the turbo step-down kick in at 3 minutes or does it step down sooner?
How hot (subjectively) does the modded S50 get when it reaches step-down?
Does the modded S50 continue to heat up, even after downshifting to the high mode? If so, does it step down a second time (from high to medium)?
I wonder how well the turbo step-down works for the modded S50 and whether the flashlight will overheat when left on high.

its also only a solder blob on the S70
but i am not sure it is the same driver (cause the e-switch)

Do you mean that this same mod would work on the S70 (by applying a solder blob)?
Or do you mean that the stock S70 comes with a solder blob at this position on the circuit board?

If you havenāt gotten in on freemeās groupbuy, do it.
First I bypassed both front/rear springs, then I re-did measurements of all modes with fully charged Samsung 30Qās:
Low: 0.26amps
Medium: 1.28amps
High: 2.53amps
Turbo: 3.95amps
Then I took the driver out and simply dropped a blob of solder on some empty pads, bypassing the stock sense resistors, and remeasured with the same cells:
Low: 0.23amps
Medium: 1.29amps
High: 2.93amps
Turbo: 9.20ā¦

According to the Taschenlampen website, the author measured 4K+ lumens from the solder-blobbed, de-domed S70. He also conjectured that the plain solder-blob modded S70 (without the de-dome) would have been around 5K lumens!

Will34 made a valid point with this question but I saw no answer. Iām hoping someone can give a range in ohms resistance that will likely achieve 4-5 amps.

Yeah I donāt think thereās any doubt you could do that, but someone will need to either find a datasheet for the components on the driver or do some trial-and-error to to find what resistor values give what results. I personally donāt have any resistors of that low value range to experiment with.
Youāre right about that. Thereās just not enough of these in the right hands yet to know the exact answer. Iām putting in a Mouser order and was just hoping someone could give me a likely suspect line up that I could try later. I donāt even have the light yet (Out of stock).

i can tell you that all the amps are going over that connention - to the resistors have to handle a lot power
i also have no set of resistors (nor the time) to try a lot combinationsā¦
