Just want to put this out there for everybody. I did a bunch of research on this 3800. Lumen 3T6 a while back and have since modified 5 of them. Most recently the Trustfire XMK which is the exact same flashlight (pill/reflector) with new styling that seems to be better quality than the original but pill/reflector is the same. Fasttech sells the nicest Trustfire 3t6 I've found with an stainless bezel. Here: https://m.fasttech.com/products/0/10000663/1059701-trustfire-tr-3t6-cree-xm-l-t6-3800lm-5-mode
The $19.00 or so for the lixada seems like a great deal since it comes with the xml2s but it would be nice if it came with the extensions for 3s cells. Fasttech may have one.
I put dedomed XML-2 U4 1C's with an MTN26DD zener modded for 3s cells in all the ones I've modified. I omitted the p60 style ground spring by soldering on copper standoffs to the driver ground ring to make zero resistance contact with the tube. Bypassed springs, bypassed switch board and spring w/18awg drilled thru brass button. Copper spring contacts. Throw in some hot Samsung 25R's or E-fests and these things scream. You have to hold on tight when you first turn it on. They got a little kick to em
Manx, no I just went with information from RotoHead64 , and they will tell you please yes 3 extensions and then send you 2 so unless I hear different I will pass.
Thinking of buying one and dedoming it, locate a extension tube and a AR Coated lense. Plus possible o-ringing the shit out of it. But thats all I’d be capable of. I am still so new to the scene.
If you will look closely at this picture you will see that the extension tube(s) will not fit the head of the light, as they are not made like the part of the tube that goes into the head.
Here is the tube in the single cell setup they are showing on their site, with one of my longest protected button tops in it. The tube is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches too long for a single cell to run.
Robo, are you sure that extension is a single piece? I ask because none of makes sense, if a single cell is that much too short in the main tube, then 2 cells will really be short in the light with that long extension tube on it. In the picture above the extension is longer than the main, so, I’m seeing a line in the extension that is on the female end, looks kind of short. That should allow the use of 2 cells, the whole extension will do 3?
There is a 3rd piece that allows for three cells Dale, another “short” extension piece, but I did not get the 3rd piece with this light.
Here are the 2 tubes that came with this particular light, you can see the main one is too long for a single cell, and the second “extension” piece is too short for a single cell. Together they make the right length for 2 cells though.
Ah, I see… that short piece is what I was seeing attached to a full cell extension to make the 3 cells work, that’s what they’re showing in the picture. Got it.
