Home Depot Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Home Depot has just cleared out a whole line of air compressors. A week ago a friend of mine in town called and told me they went on clearance and wanted to know how many I bought. I told him none, I didn’t even know. He then mentioned that he and his Dad were in our local store and they had just marked them down. There were 12 pieces of a dual tank, 1 1/2 horse model that was marked from $180 to $45. One guy grabbed 9 and 3 other guys grabbed 1 each before they even had a chance. He was hoping that I had already known about it and grabbed a bunch of them for myself and my friends, as he knew that is what I would likely do. He really wanted one and I felt bad for him. Heck after talking to him, I wanted 1 too!
The next day, I went to the service desk and asked them to check all stores in the area for stock. All gone. They even told me that most stores were sold out even BEFORE they hit the floor. Probably employees.
I did manage to find another single tank model marked down from $130 to $33. While in the store I called a couple of other friends, told them about that model and bought 7. Why 7? Well, 1 for me, 2 for one friend that said he wanted 2, 1 for another friend, 1 for me again  , another for the friend that said he wanted 2 cause I KNEW he would want 3. And then 1 more, just in case. Of course the friend that wanted 2 asked for a third, and after he saw it out of the box, he wanted a 4th!
So my planning went perfectly.
Also during my travels to Rhode Island, etc. I was able to find 2 of the twin tank models for $45 each. Both were the display models. NEVER have I seen something sell out so quickly. These compressor deals seem to be in every store.
These may still be available in your local store. Just today I found the second twin tank model and have seen the single tank still in stock for $33

Here are the specs.

The 3 gallon single tank model has been replaced with a 4 gallon model that looks exactly like it. It sells for $199

Here are both compressors side by side in my driveway. I couldn’t resist at these prices

I’ve been on vacation in Northern MI for the last 4.5 days; I need to get to my local HD stores ASAP!

You guys are killing me.

I checked mine and they had nothing worthwhile. I’ll keep an eye on this thread just in case.

HD near work only has a smaller 2 gal compressor and then the much bigger one and the other brands. Saw no 6 or 3 prices anywhere. Will check my local HD on the way home.

EDIT - Skunked at the local one too but it’s not over yet.

Don’t give up! Just yesterday I found 2 more, although sometimes you can’t believe the sticker price.

The boxes say $116.00, but they rang up for $33

My very first post to this thread, and post #2, was what I thought at the time to be a pretty decent deal. 4 Clamps for $19.88
(From my first post)

Well, that’s nothing compared to what’s going on now. I had been following a package of 6! clamps that originally was priced at $24.88. Then months ago it went to an even $15, stayed there for a while and then dropped to $14.06.

That drop of 94 cents is more significant than it seems at first. Ending with a “6” means that it is in the final stages of it’s clearance markdown.
Yesterday I found that they are now at $6.33, the “3” price
6 clamps for about $6, that works out to about a buck a piece. One way I use to determine value when something is around a buck is ask myself if something like that could ever be sold by Dollar Tree.

I’ve been lurking on BLF for a couple months now, learning quite a bit and being entertained by this thread. Well, yesterday I finally registered on this site because I found my first penny deal… and I don’t even know what it is!

I was at HD looking for some GE Link bulbs. I have a few installed around my house over the last year and they have been pretty reliable. After checking the lightbulb section, I hit the clearance racks, but didn’t come across any. Scanning the shelves, I found a couple other items with DOB’s back in Nov 2015 and got excited that they may have been overlooked. But alas, after bringing them up to the self check, they were still at their “regular” sale price. When I put those items back, I spotted something that had fallen between the grates of the bottom rack. It was all dusty, but otherwise looked fine. So I went back up to the self check, saw the price, inserted my penny, grabbed the receipt, and high-tailed it outta there… feeling like I just stole something.

I probably don’t even have a use for this light stick, but the wrist strap will replace a broken one on a cheapie flashlight and is definitely worth the penny!

Welcome to BLF JSC! Enjoy the hunt!

Heck of a first post!
See when you can get stuff at the right price it can change everything.
Sometimes I take apart good stuff that I got cheap, just for the parts. Sort of like what you can do with this light stick. That strap may be useful. Also the button cells inside are a keeper, etc. Get the idea?
Good luck in the future.
BTW, after you peruse Home Depot of a period of months you will become familiar with what has gone on clearance. That stick light was everywhere, and then they were gone. Later, if you should see one, there is a good chance it will be a penny.
Just yesterday I saw this:

This was at the Pro Desk. I actually had to excuse myself to get to it as there was a Home Depot employee sitting on a stool. Their foot was just inches from that DeWALT 65 piece bit set laying on the bottom. Above it are 32 piece and 45 piece bit sets that sell at full price. I only recognized that 65 piece bit set as a penny item because I had watched it go from $14.88 to $12.00 to $7.84 and finally to $3.82. By now it would have been a penny, and it was.

They have them at the HD by my house. San Antonio, TX

Today I was in Home Depot to get a vinyl shade and a cabinet hinge. Of course I did a quick look see for penny deals but struck out.
When I first walked in the store, I saw this sign.
“PRO Appreciation Event”

What really caught my eye was FOOD! :+1:

After I finished at the register and went outside I came across a table with free hamburgers, hot dogs, and soda. I stood in front of the table thinking, should I, or shouldn’t I.
Then this guy walked up and started helping himself.

When I saw him I said to myself, IF he’s a PRO, I’m a PRO.
And I stepped up and got me a hamburger and a hotdog :innocent:

If you look at his boots, you’ll see he’s a pro.

Just tell them “When it comes to hamburger eating…. I’m a professional ”

&

If you’ve spent as much time and money at the Home Depot as you have …You’re a pro !!!

I mentioned earlier that when you were in my house you missed something :innocent:

I didn’t notice this until a couple of days later, but here it is. This is a shot of the bottom of the clearance section.

Don’t see it? Of course not, it’s too dark under there. But the clearance tag is visible. To the left, hanging down, price is $4.83

It’s the Brass Wall Lantern that poiiy posted about way back when it was $13.06

And I remember SawMaster saying that this light would only be worth it at the “3” price
Anyway, that dark corner under the clearance shelf comes to life IF one carries and EDC light

You guys think I have it easy, my Home Town HD has the self checkout lanes closed all week. Only on the weekends are they open. I had to wait almost a week to fetch it.

radioshaq, do you carry an EDC light? Mine comes in handy all the time

BTW, You mentioned the University of Hartford, does your friend go to U of H?
That is my Alma Mater :student:

Why do you call me poiiy

Ovens are back

What the “h” difference does it make? :smiling_imp:

My mistake, that silent “h” makes your name difficult to spell! :person_facepalming:

Dcomak is right about h’s …
alf te time tey are silent anyway . great ome depot tread!

well that was frustrating… i was on a trip to virginia this weekend. but both ways we were in a rush, so didn’t get to visit ANY home depots on the way! to make up for my frustration, i charted 3 home depots that i don’t normally visit on my way to drop off the rental car. nothing! well… a few misfires

i saw this tossed behind in the clearance section and was sure i had found a penny deal. Only to see it scan at $19 something. turns out dchomak posted the 65 pc set, not the 64… duh - a brain fart; i was so confident, i had hit the checkout button, only to huff back to drop it where it belonged - not in my tool set

and then there was this energizer lantern… i had first spotted a straggler in another location. thought for sure it would be a penny, only to see it scan at 29.97! at least this time i had hit the price check button. then i saw that they actually were still selling it at full price at this location. on closer inspection, i see that this might be a different model than the ones being marked down a few months back (330 lumens vs 300 lumens). so brain farts all around for me - it was a stinking day.
