Soldering extra chips on this driver does not create any problems. Just ask my good friend and unofficially official tester…Dale.
It may mess with the calibration for battery check but that’s about it.
Edit: Also, moonlight mode will get brighter right along with all the other modes.
I thought about asking Simon to add the recessed thumb groove but then I played with a few of my C8s and thought really I don’t care as I’ve never personally had a problem using the C8 switch even with gloves on. So, in my opinion it’s not too recessed but if the majority disagrees and wants the thumb grooved tail that can easily be added.
I hear you djozz. Not everyone agrees though as the C8 is still a big seller and like you said, if we change the design too much then it’s not a C8.
More designs will come my friend. Convoy has a pretty solid track record when it comes to patience being rewarded particularly where the desires of BLF are concerned.
The Thorfire tailcap is much better. Since the Thorfire tube legoes with the Convoy head I am using one with one of my Convoys. The tailcaps alone don’t lego though. Edit: Aktually they seem to lego, I remembered wrong.
Djozz “over smaak valt niet te twisten”
I really love the C8 design
The head makes it not roll away, the fins where heat is produced
Lines coming back in the tail.
Maybe Simon, J-Dub74 and TK have made it too good now
I am going to order at least one and do not see reason to mod it
And what is the voltage for LPV to kick in (now it is a bit too high for my liking in Convoys so if that is reduced to (<)3V this looks like an awesome driver I will order more from (preferring longer runtimes over a shorter extra brightness))
I saw poject driver in which every 7135 was switch on end off individual. So in this case there is no PWM and efficiency is higher in low modes because work as many 7135 as neccecary for each level.
Is there any problem using this driver in new Convoy C8.
