Help the new guy here please

Ok, having had Fenix, Surefire and of course MAG, I have been poking around various threads looking at other brands. I see things like Ultra Fire, Romisen, Trust Fire I think and various other brands.

I am really interested to see what they are all about.

So, thinking 20 bucks, 1 or 2 AA. Needs to be bright enough, say 100 lumen minimum, brighter is obviously ok but does not need to be the brightest newest thing.

I want quality.

What would be the suggestions for a first buy of one of these lights. Romisen, UltraFire or other?

Links and pics would be great. I prefer to buy from a place with fairly quick shipping (not good with 30 day waits).

Steer me in the right direction please!

Your price point and ship time requirements make this kind of tough, but there's deals to be had. Here's one suggestion for you and take a look at other AA offerings there as well:

I'll give ya my two pfennigs...cheap, bright, reliable and fast shipping in the US? I use tmart, always had fast shipping...not everyone likes tmart. Here are a few options:

$7 shipped...Sipik SK68 clone - search the forum, tons of info on this one:
http://www.tmart.com/CREE-Q3-3W-210-Lumen-3-Mode-Mini-Focus-Flashlight-with-Pen-Clip-Black_p134351.html

Romisen RC-G2 for $13...hard to beat Romisen quality for the price:
http://www.tmart.com/Romisen-RCG2-130-Lumens-CREE-P2-LED-Flashlight_p112836.html

Tank007 TK-566 for $18, I don't have one but others seem to like it:

http://www.tmart.com/TANK007-3W-110-Lumens-CREE-Q2-TK566-LED-Flashlight_p95607.html

I like this one for something different, stainless UF C3 for $16:

http://www.tmart.com/UltraFire-5W-100-Lumens-Stainless-Steel-C3-CREE-Q5-1Mode-LED-Flashlight-Torch_p95610.html

I like this one a lot, Uniquefire AA-S1 from DX (not fast shipping!), ten bucks:

Just a few ideas, ymmv

If you want to avoid the "direct from China" lottery, I would take BetweenRides advice and get something from Shiningbeam. That place is less about budget (cheap) and more about value.

Wow, Dave! Much better prices. So for Tmart, you just look for 'ships from: US warehouse' in the item description, eh? You've had pretty good luck with them? Any customer service experience? I've never even looked at their site.

The shining beam and tmart suggestions are right on for fast shipping. I have ordered from both many times. No problems.

BetweenRides, I've ordered from Tmart many times, often had the item in 3 days (they ship out of Brooklyn) and had one experience with CS...wasn't too bad...others would disagree. Hard to beat for the price and speed for Chinese lights. Shiningbeam is a different animal...prices aren't bad, selection isn't huge, but what he has is great, and you'll have it in a few days. Excellent CS. Langcjl is right on the money.

I agree with BR that Romisen - generally - offer one of the best price/quality ratios out there. If you like zooms then I'd suggest http://www.dealextreme.com/p/romisen-rc-29-cree-q5-wc-3-mode-180-lumen-convex-lens-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-aa-1-14500-50679

Not quite as user friendly as a Sipik 68 clone but more reliable qc. also, IMO, better quality overall. Problem is that coming from DX it's unlikely that your delivery time requirements will be fulfilled. In fact, you could die of old age before it arrives if they're on one of their 'go-slows' :\

Shiningbeam do their own exclusive version of this torch but I don't own it so can't recommend from personal experience. However, those at BLF who have one tend to speak very highly of it.

I beliieve that this version is only one mode(?) and won't run on 14500 batteries (confirmation needed here).

watchcollector, I forgot to mention Shiningbeam offers a 6% BLF discount! Use it at checkout.

Shining Beam BLFUSER

Another to consider. Lighthound offers a 2% CPF discount.

This is a rebadged Balder SE-1

Well thanks for all the suggestions. The only drawback is that my plan of trying one is out the window. I see 3 of them that I cant wait to get my hands on. Should change forum name from "budgetlight" to "there-goes-my-budget"

Thanks for all the help!

I have a Hugsby P2 Cree Q5-WC 190 Lm Lumen 3-Mode LED Flashlight and so far like it.

I may have to try the Romisem RG-2g or the Lighthound.

I noticed this, and wonder if anyone believes it gets 600 lumens. I do not.

You might also consider the Trustfire R5A3. Classic AA/14500 light that works great out of the box and is easy to mod.

I like that!!

Another one for your consideration, from a site run by a BLF member:

Nice discount. I"ll give them some money. T-Mart as well, as I purchased from them once before.
