Xeno just released a new Awesome 18650 EDC Flashlight. It's the same width as the E03/E15, but it accepts 18650 cells! It's just a little longer than the E03! These lights are already on their way and will be in stock early next week.
Pre-Order: Will Ship ~5/23
Key Features:
Could be the smallest 18650 flashlight in the world with a reverse clicky. 21.5mm x 111mm, 50g.
With the exception of the xeno E03 driver (which was never intended to run off 14500 LiCo cells), Xeno generally offers quite conservative drive levels. The good thing about this one though is the CW version uses the top of the line U2 bin, coupled with an AR lens for maximum output at the given drive level.
Although us flashaholics crave lumens, in reality if this unit was run at 1.5A, there would only be a perceived brightness increase of about 20% to the human eye.
With a 1.5-2A drive current and a small 50 gram light like this, if you left it on for 30 minutes, you'd probably burn yourself touching it.
Wow, you are drawing way too much power from the 10440's (4C). That could be very dangerous!
One thing I think people are forgetting is this light is about the size of most AA lights, yet offers 4x the runtime compared to 14500 lights. If you take that into consideration the light output is pretty decent, and the runtime for such a small packaged light is impressive.
That is a very good point. My ZL SC60 is the same size as most AA lights and puts out just 300 lumens on high. There are honestly very few situations where that isn't more than enough light and the runtime is great!
+1 to that, the small problem is that XENO rates it OTF which is further reduced by the deep reflector and double sided AR coating. Having said that, it is plenty bright for the size!
My lights are still in the mail, but I'm told it should work with virtually any 18650 cell. It has springs in the head and the tail, which makes the light more shockproof, and makes it compatible with cells of various sizes as well as both flat / button tops. I have yet to see a current generation Xeno light that can't fit a type of 18650 cell.
Yes, T6 Neutral White, a premium bin, just like the U2 CW. Hidden modes you half press 3 times quickly on any mode to access the hidden modes. See this diagram.
2A in a 50g light from Xeno is not going to happen. See post #4 for an explanation as to why. Also Xeno is catering to the broad market, not specifically to flashaholics who must have a pocketrocket with 5 minute runtime on high.
oh I read the explanation..no one needs a small light on high for 30 minutes..that is why we have a medium setting..but really Xeno can feel free to make lights that don't hit our market..just don't expect me to buy them lol
edit: and who other than flashaholics own or even know about 18650's??
That's why it also accepts CR123's, just like Surefires. And you'd be surprised I have an elderly customer that's visually impaired that uses a 18650 Xeno light.
