EagleTac M3C4 XM-L

Rick and I did a little trading. I wasn’t much on the Dereelight even though it was a great concentrated thrower. But’ I’m just more in to the XM-L throwers with bigger hotspots and still plenty of spill like the M3X. So Rick and I traded. He got my Dereelight and I got his EagleTac M3C4 XM-L. It’s a super nice light. It has one of the best cases you can get. Thanks again Rick.

I gave Rick a bunch of batteries and Rick gave me this. Now I have something to carry my flashlights in.

Your welcome Brad, Thanks for driving out so we could finally meet. Thank you for all the batteries and the trade and taking the picture of my curio. I do wish it was night time , I would have loved to see that TK70 do it’s thing…… That is one hell of a light.

Glad you guys could make a deal but - I don’t think I’d give up either one of those lights lol

Heck the more you have the more easier it is to give one up.

Ha ha, well, I agree, but I bet those two would be a couple of my favorites.

Here’s a few pictures.

Manual exposure, 1 sec, f/4.5, ISO 400 and I zoomed in a little.

60yds

80yds

I told Rick this is going to be my new frog gigging light. It should work great.

Rick,

I figured out how to set the light now. I have it where you can now turn it all the way to the right on high w/o it going in to strobe.

Hi,
I have been an avid follower of this sight for the last couple of months but never posted. I have had the M3C4 XML for about 3 months now and love it. Between my brother and myself we have picked up some nice lights since January when we were “bitten” by the bug. Between the 2 of us we have a few really good throwers including the M3C4, Sr51, DBS V3, 7G5 V1, and SR90. With the exception of the SR90 and dereelight the eagletac holds it own with all of them. The Crelant slightly out throws it but not by much. Just be sure and unscrew the battery tube a couple of turns before putting it in the sheath to avoid accidentally turning it on. I would be willing to bet this light will be one of your favorite lights.

I can tell the bug is spreading
I hope you have fun here , I know I do

I have quite a few XM-L throwers that will out throw this one very easily. This was one of the first big XM-L throwers. But my Crelant 7G5, Olight M3X, UniqueFire UF-V2, Sunwayman T40CS, Sunwayman V60C, Olight SR51, and Fenix TK41 will all beat this light. It’s just not driven as hard. But it’s cool and will burn longer on a set of batteries because of that and will make a great frog gigging light.

Interesting because Eagle Tac claims that M3C4 is dricen at 2,8A.

Well if it is I,m not seeing it in the way it throws compared to my other XM-L throwers. The M3X is probably easy 100 lumens brighter and will easily out throw it. And it’s only rated at 700 lumens and not 800 max otf lumens that Eagle Tac is claiming on this light. This light is supposed to have right at a 61mm head. But it’s probably more like 60mm.

Trust me on the wall up close my other XM-L throwers will easily beat this one. But it is a cool light and I still like it.

Sounds like the single is OK… I have a triple Eagletac and the thing was so woefully underdriven, even with XP-G’s, that I just got done ripping everything out, put in 3 4000K XM-L’s from Illumination Supply and used 7135 boards with two extra chips each to drive them. Got rid of the fat magnetic ring, put in IMR’s in parallel by rebuilding the battery carrier, and now I have a beautifully tinted light that I can actually use now.

Welcome to the club, manxbuggy1!

Ilike, your M3C4 must be a little underdriven. From my experience that is a very strong light. It is stronger by far than my SR51 and 7G5-V1 at moderate ranges. Meaning if tested it at over 100 lumens hotter than the other two at 1M. And I was able to get .25L out of both it and the SR51 at 500 yards. The 7G5 barely squeeked by it at that point with about .30L at 500 yards. I don’t see too many XML throwers doing better than the M3C4’s measured throw of 500 yards. I’m sure a couple of the new models coming out will likely do it, but until this past month, I think that number of production XML lights capable of over 500yd throw, thus beating the M3C4, would be a VERY short list. I really like both it and the SR51 since they both have awesome throw, but also a much more useful spill than lights like the crelant, etc.

You must have a 7G5 like my first one. And yes this M3C4 is underdriven I believe. I emailed Eagletac about it. We will see what they say.

And I’m going off of what I have and what selbuilt said about the M3C4. It supposed to rate right around 39,000 lux@1meter which is right around what the SR51 is supposed to be. But I think that’s really a little low for the SR51. I have most of the good XM-L throwers. This M3C4 is at the low end of the totem pole.

Here is some shots that include all three of those lights at 300yds along with a few others for comparison sakes.

Here is the same lights at 400 yards. As you can see the M3C4 is holding its own.
